As Emrys has said there are members making a claim. I’m guessing that the numbers and results are commercially confidential and sensitive between each claimant and JLCA so I am unwilling to put too much data on an open forum. Suffice to say that there have been successful claims that have been paid out and there are many more ‘in the pipeline’ at various stages. The usual storyline is to attend court for the claim, Anfi appeal and then JLCA pursue once Anfi renege on depositing the monies to the court. See the other forum for more detail.
18/10/2017 at 5:48 pm #16818Our appearance was in December – a few days before Xmas. Basically the same as Emrys has reported except that we stayed in the court room the whole time (not that was of much use – high speed Spanish apart from my little bit). Ours was videoed rather than just sound recorded. As I understand it the ‘expert’ who presented after us was the guy who argued that we had had a substantial number of holidays and that any award should reflect that. During the summing up the Anfi lawyer assistant fell asleep whilst the Anfi lawyer was giving his presentation. We got the result on 15th June (six months!), Anfi appealed and we are working through that at the moment. Recently JLCA have requested the extra funding (as agreed at the commencement) to enforce the execution of the judgement through the courts as Anfi have not deposited the monies to date. As I understand it this means that Anfi must deposit the money to the court or face an embargo. Hopefully this shouldn’t take too long. Hopefully the courts may prove a little speedier but don’t hold your breath – it seems that their courts operate rather slowly (although it does depend on which court you get – it seems as though it is slowly or very slowly!). It’s looking like 12 months or so to get to an end point. As someone once said “Everything will be alright in the end and if it’s not alright it can’t be the end!)
22/06/2017 at 8:04 pm #13078Update on my postal vote – I posted it on June 12th by Royal Mail Tracked and signed. It reached Madrid on 14th. Finally delivered to Anfi on 22nd – one day late to be included in the count. I have written to Customer Services complaining about the short notice for the SGM but I don’t suppose it will make any difference. And it cost £6 to send the darn thing!!!!!
I did ask whether they would consider sending out the personalised voting forms by email next time so that we can guarantee getting the forms back to them within time. Again I don’t think that will go anywhere.
21/06/2017 at 3:13 pm #13006For information I copy a post I have made in the claims thread:
Update on voting forms:
I received a reply from Customer Services a few minutes ago. I asked if they had received my postal vote – I received the form on 10th June, posted it by “Tracked and signed” first thing Monday morning 12th June. It was received into the Correos system at Madrid Airport on 14th June and today I saw an update on the tracking that it was “in transit”. The postal voting closed at 10:45 this morning so despite me responding as quickly as I could and using the quickest postal route available it is very unlikely that my vote will count. The 7 day delay at the Madrid sorting office was unacceptable but there seems to be little I can do about it. If anybody is at the meeting could they lodge a complaint about the short notice call for the SGM and see if they can include all forms received between 21st and 23rd because of the Spanish postal system!
I live in hope…….

08/06/2017 at 5:36 pm #12396Not too certain if this will help Richard but there’s a thread on the Anfi Del Mar Facebook page at about 14:30 today where a guy named Stephen Myers has posted this comment: “Have spoken to customer services – if we are at Anfi NEXT week, or can prove that we are on the island, then they can request duplicates which take a few days to produce.” Maybe Richard could also contact them to confirm?
08/06/2017 at 5:30 pm #12395Received my Monte papers today. I am waiting for a day or so to see JLCA advice. Apart from that is anybody from the Newbury/Reading/Basingstoke area going over in the next few days and can take my papers with them? I see that Richard is going on Saturday but I think Wigan’s a bit far away from me to get the papers to him!
07/06/2017 at 3:33 pm #12331Thanks for the steer Wolgang. I will just wait to see if we ever get the papers!
Barry
07/06/2017 at 1:27 pm #12328I have yet to receive any papers or info about this in respect of Monte. Just for information I assume that if I ever get the papers through (by land or email) that I would be able to choose a proxy vote for somebody who is attending – I usually give that to Richard Weston but will that be possible this time? thanks Barry
03/06/2017 at 11:17 am #12032In December we stayed at the Dunas Mirador all inclusive 3* at the top of the hill by the El Tablero retail outlet. We stayed for 4 nights just to make it more of a break. Small and not Anfi quality but it worked well for us. Food was adequate and plentiful but we did eat out on occasions just for a change. It is reported that rooms get hot in the summer as there’s no air con in any of them but that was no issue in December. Bit old but it served a purpose (it’s a leisurely stroll to the courts but an uphill hike on the way back!!!) It was cheap – £296 for four nights all inclusive total cost for two people through Expedia. Air fares via Easyjet were £300 for the two of us. (December 2016 prices!) hence £596 for a four/five day all inculsive break. Might get crowded in the summer and there’s no escaping the noisy swimming pool area – many of the rooms overlook the pool complex. There are reports that it is being upgraded but I haven’t seen any confirmation. Some reviews are poor but all in all for the price it wasn’t too bad…….
03/06/2017 at 9:37 am #12018Just to add that we had our hearing in Court #3 on December 20th and we are still waiting for the decision (3rd June). I have emailed Emma a few times and have had the holding statement that they are at the behest of the court and there are delays. Just to add an extra point when we started the process I was of the opinion (or told, or read) that our membership of Anfi ceases at the moment the judge gives his opinion. As we were being advised that decisions were being taken in a few weeks we decided that we couldn’t risk using our 2017 week (that we paid for in December 2016) as we may have been left high and dry accommodation wise. There seems to be a new slant that the membership ceases only once all appeals have been heard. Can anybody confirm what the official position is, I will be emailing Emma again on Monday but just wondered what other’s views were. I don’t post very often on the forum as there have been instances of discussions being posted directly onto the Anfi Claims facebook page by persons known and unknown – including an earlier full post from JLCA that was cut and pasted, it contained the latest info on claims as a whole. There also seems to be an interloper who appears to take delight in sharing these private posts with the world in general – unless he/she has been identified and bought to task recently.
