Hi Diane
We ran the free advert up to the end of June – we are charging now but offer to refund if you don’t rent outThe German site that Wolfgang runs currently offers free adverts if within 6 weeks of the apartment start date – http://www.timeshare-markt.de
16/08/2021 at 9:57 am #67098Just to clarify from the UK gov site in case my previous post can be read differently, the 6 month validity has to be based on the original 10 year end date not an extended end date.
Feedback on one of our Facebook groups indicated some people are being caught out and turned away at airport – gov.uk says:-
—————-
On the day you travel, you’ll need your passport to both:- have at least 6 months left
- be less than 10 years old (even if it has 6 months or more left)

Many of our members, quite rightly, have asked about the flower on the balconies. During lockdown when the clubs were closed for almost 5 months, the balcony automatic watering system was shut off completely, to save water and, more importantly, in order for water leaks not to go unnoticed due to there being no occupation and very few staff on site.Even when the clubs reopened, there was still very low occupancy leaving the balconies vulnerable to possible water leaks going undetected. Also, with certain Covid restrictions in place regarding entering apartments when occupied, it is difficult for the gardeners to have access to the apartments when needed.
The clubs have also taken the opportunity of making checks and repairs to the façade of the buildings, and this works continues in two of the clubs with the other two still to be executed. Whilst carrying out this work, the balcony flower box sometimes must be emptied, and cannot be watered during the whole process of repair.
With all this in mind, the Anfi Management decided to maintain the balconies without flowers for the time being until restrictions are revised and ongoing works are completed.
Our apologies for not being able to present a colourful balcony, but we do hope that it does not stop you from enjoying your well deserved and long awaited holiday in Anfi!
11/08/2021 at 2:29 pm #66857Hi Bob
Welcome to the Club and the website. Those are 2 good questions and there have been quite a few posts about the new contracts on this Forum and on our Facebook group.1) Anfi, up to now, have always taken back contracts when requested, and also take back if you don’t pay maintenance for 2 years. The new contract has a specific clause covering your right to handback without penalty.
2) Whilst your sons would not be pursued by Anfi if they were kept on the new contract you can if you wish just take your sons off the contract, as they may not want to sign the new ones. For the new contracts Anfi let you add/remove people for free when they issue the contract, whereas changes usually about €100.
If your sons had any potential interest it is easier to keep them on contract as, if they have to deal with as part of your estate and are not on contract, extra checks are involved. And if you didn’t have a Will then it gets more difficult.I would suggest you think a while about signing the contract and are Anfi offering anything as incentive – this could vary depending on floating or fixed weeks and could be voucher for lost weeks, or extended period to redeem floating or points.
I’ve got some draft notes about the new contracts but haven’t had time to finish off, but happy to share if you email me and let me know type of timeshare you own.Kind regards

07/08/2021 at 11:01 am #66684Gran Canaria is moving from level 3 to level 4 restrictions from Monday to help combat a rise in infections. More detail on this CanaryNews article but key points include
The Canary Island government is working on new legislation to help it enforce restrictions, and in part replace the emergency legislation that expired in May. Note some additional restrictions including on beaches, pools, gatherings, children’s playgrounds closed. The rest of the islands remain at the same health alert levels, with which Tenerife remains at 4; Fuerteventura and La Palma, in number 3; Lanzarote and La Gomera, in the 2nd; and El Hierro, at 1.
- meetings with friends and family members who are not living together –both in public and private spaces– are limited to a maximum of four people. Despite doubts generated by the current TSJC orders regarding limits to opening hours, the hotel industry must close their doors between 00.00 and 06.00 and the nightlife, such as late night bars and clubs, will continue to remain closed.
- Maximum capacity on the terraces of restaurants, bars and cafes remains at 75% and tables can be up to six people.
- The interiors of the hotel establishments are limited to 50% official capacity and a maximum of four people at the tables. Groups of two maximum are allowed inside bars and indoor buffets and self-service are prohibited (except at hotels, which can be maintained, if they are assisted by a waiter).
- In no case, currently, is it be necessary to present a Covid certificate proving that you are either vaccinated, have a negative PCR or have had and recovered from Covid-19 in the last six months.
- Buses are obliged to limit their capacity to a third, and bus routes with the largest number of passengers must be reinforced.
- In taxis, no more than two people can travel per row of seats, except next to the driver.
- It is still forbidden to smoke while walking on the street, except if you permanently maintain a distance of two meters from all other pedestrians.
- Visits to patients in hospitals continue to be suspended, except situations in which they are necessary at the discretion of the physician.
- Shopping centres must maintain occupancy levels of less than 25% in all common areas. In addition, the use of recreational, children’s or rest areas is prohibited, unless disinfection can be guaranteed after each use. Retail capacity is also set at 25%.
- Cinemas, theatres, auditoriums and cultural spaces will be able to continue operating at 55% capacity. However, public shows – whether outdoors nor indoors – may not be held in venues that are not normally intended for that purpose.
- Libraries, gyms, churches, wakes and gambling venues may not exceed one third of their capacity.
- Allowed capacity on the beaches remains at 50% and you can only be in groups of a maximum of four people.
- The regional government recommends teleworking and have applied limits to the capacity of museums and markets
- Children’s and youth camps can continue to operate, at a maximum of 20 participants and up to a capacity of 33%. Camping spaces and shelters will continue to be closed.
- Swimming pools for community use may open at a third of their licensed capacity and groups are limited to no more than two people. Covered or indoor pools, may only be used for exercise or therapeutic purposes. Spas and saunas must be closed.
So what has changed?
- Among the measures that are increased at Alert Level 4 is the total closure of playgrounds, with urban furniture for children and sports having to be put off limits. Fairground attractions that were allowed to open at half their capacity in Level 3, must now fully close.
- Numbers allowed into museums, exhibition halls, monuments and other cultural facilities are now limited to a quarter of their licensed capacity and visitors cannot be in groups of more than four. The same with the capacity of markets held in the street, which is also reduced to 33% and, in addition, sporadic markets are prohibited.
- For active tourism activities, or with a guide, no more than 12 people may participate, instead of the maximum of 20 who could take part at Level 3.
- Popular tastings, food fairs or events, both in closed and open spaces, are forbidden and even neighbourhood associations, unless they are to address issues of force majeure, have to be limited to 25% capacity.
- This is the highest level of health alert prescribed by the Government of the Canary Islands, and they recommend facilitating teleworking where ever possible and that only meetings that are absolutely essential be held in person.

02/08/2021 at 2:02 pm #66443Hi John
I’ve replied to your post on the other thread you posted it on – https://anfiukmembers.co.uk/forums/topic/free-covid19-travel-insurance-provided-by-canary-islands-government-from-august/#post-66361
02/08/2021 at 2:00 pm #66442also for tests, Anfi has deal with San Roque hospital for antigen tests for €15 each, get the letter from Anfi reception – there have been reports of queues at the hospital as, though you book a slot, a member was told by the hospital that they see people in turn in the queue, which seems to defeat the purpose of booking & perhaps this will change soon!
There are more local clinics at Puerto Rico and Arguineguin which charge about €30 each and members using them have reported no queues.
02/08/2021 at 1:53 pm #66441Hi John
The Canary Island tourist site still states that a back up insurance plan is provided – though the link given does not work – https://www.hellocanaryislands.com/faqs-and-matters-of-interest/
There is separate post on our FB group about Anfi providing accommodation, at a cost, for anyone staying who tests positive and has to self isolate.
The text says:-
“7. What should I do if I get symptoms during my stay in the Canary Islands? COVID-19 medical insurance.
If you experience symptoms such as a cough, a temperature, shortness of breath or feeling generally unwell, self-isolate at your accommodation and call 900 112 061 for instructions and to be put in touch with the appropriate medical centre.
Remember that you must wear a mask if you go to any medical centre in the islands and avoid touching anything with your hands.
As what is most important is your health and well-being, if you do not have medical insurance, we will provide you with an AXA policy free of charge in Canary Islands to cover all expenses relating to COVID-19. See everything that it covers here – [https://www.hellocanaryislands.com/sites/default/files/Comunicado-seguro-Axa-EN.pdf]”
17/07/2021 at 9:27 pm #65933Just to update a recent post in AnfiDelMar mentioned delays at San Roque for PCR tests of 2 or 3 hours and lots of queues – it wasn’t clear whether this applied to antigen tests as well.
The more local options do cost around €30 but some posts say no queues – the 2 mentioned are Clinica Scandinavica in Puerto Rico, and the Arguineguin Clinic at the Whale’s Tail roundabout.
If you are out there and know more do please update us!

13/07/2021 at 2:35 pm #65806Hi Liam – I’ve just tried a test email to the hospital and get an error – presume same as you – I suspect this is a typo in the email as the domain looks wrong <covidmaspalomas@hospitalessasnroque.com>: Host or domain name not found. Name service error for name=hospitalessasnroque.com type=AAAA: Host not found
And I’m right!! – on another bit of the site you can find a different version of the email – covidmaspalomas@hospitalessanroque.com – someone typed the sanroque bit wrong on the other webpage – can you give it a go and let us know if it works
[on this part of site the drop down gives the revised email – plus another email option – juancarlos.pulido@hospitalessanroque.com https://hospitalessanroque.com/es/especialidades-medicas/unidad-de-pruebas-diagnosticas-covid-19]13/07/2021 at 2:19 pm #65803Hi Liam,
Anfi reception may have more info – originally at San Roque it was a walk in service for antigen and prebook for PCR, but the website does say to pre-book.
Where did you read that you collect results next day?The website has a phone number 928 40 41 42 – though also says to book by email for antigen.
For others the website is https://hospitalessanroque.com/en/medical-specialties/covid-19-diagnostic-testing-unit?center=hospitales-san-roque-in-maspalomas :-
“From Monday 12 July these will be the new timetables:
COVID19 TOTAL ANTI-BODY TEST – 40 euro. It detects the body’s response and immune status, sample test in blood or serum. The results can be downloaded from the Hospitales Universitarios San Roque website.
PCR – 95 euro. It detects in real time the genetic material of the active virus in the sample taken through the nose and pharynx with a swab that is analysed in a clinical laboratory. The result of the test can be downloaded from the website. Test from 07:00-09:30 Monday to Friday. Appointments will always be necessary, by e-mail: covidmaspalomas@hospitalessasnroque.com
ANTIGEN TEST – 30 euro. It detects the coronavirus protein. It is used for early recognition of positive cases and as a screening element for PCR. Test available from 12:00-19:00 Monday to Sunday (including public holidays) in the extraction room, which is next to the Emergency Room. Outside the established hours, antigen testing will not be carried out.
Appointments will always be necessary, by e-mail: covidmaspalomas@hospitalessasnroque.com12/07/2021 at 6:07 pm #65772Also I don’t think you are signed up to our new Members Facebook group – https://www.facebook.com/groups/anfiukmembersclub – you are to our public group but that has restrictions on posting whereas the members group is open for posts (just no adverts please).

12/07/2021 at 6:03 pm #65771Hi Liam
There were some posts on this but the ones I’ve found are 3 to 5 years back
Hoppa as you mentioned or ResortHoppa – was back in 2013 – https://anfiukmembers.co.uk/forums/topic/resorthoppa/#post-6586
Benito taxis from many years ago – https://anfiukmembers.co.uk/forums/topic/benito-taxis-other-taxis/#post-6596
We clearly need an update from people who have used transfer services recently – I’ve heard that some people think the bus service is very good and simply use that. We can ask on our Facebook group too
12/07/2021 at 5:42 pm #65770Hi Craig
For your 11 year old son, the info I’ve referenced reads as if no test going out but same tests as you coming back, but please read on!!
You will need to fill in the same forms for your son as you do for yourself.
– for going out, please contact Anfi Customer Services to check what they say as slight conflict of info, see below (and in any case UK gov recommend you contact your “hotel” to confirm for Canaries):-– the Hello Canary’s site refers to anyone over 12 needing vaccination, test, or proof of having covid – https://www.hellocanaryislands.com/travelling-to-the-canary-islands/
– The UK gov site for travelling out – https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/spain/entry-requirements#testing-requirements-for-arrivals-from-the-uk – refers to children under 12 being exempted
Then it goes on to say in Canary Islands children under 6 are exempt from testing, but it refers you to the Canary tourist board, which is Hello Canary’s and that says over 12 – so I’d suspect the reference to 6 is old information (the Canaries added some while ago a requirement for people going to regulated tourist accommodation, like Anfi and hotels, initially this was for tests before we had vaccine, now it reads as either test, vaccine or proof of having covid)
UK gov site says – “In some parts of Spain, regardless of your country of origin, tourist accommodation providers may require you to present evidence either of a negative test, of being fully vaccinated or of having had and recovered from COVID-19 in the last 6 months. This currently applies in the Canary Islands, see the Canary Island tourist board website for details. Children under the age of 6 are exempt from testing. Tests permitted are PCR (RT-PCR for COVID-19), Transcription Mediated Amplification (TMA), and Antigen tests. You should check with your accommodation provider prior to travel.”Lastly for coming back home the UK gov site – https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-testing-for-people-travelling-to-england#exemptions–people-who-do-not-need-to-take-a-test – says children aged 10 and under do not need a test, so I’m afraid your 11 year old will need same tests as you do. (unless of course the UK update this in coming days before you travel)
Do keep an eye on these Spanish and UK websites, in case things change – and also check with your airline, in case they have different rules for children travelling.
12/07/2021 at 5:08 pm #65769Hi Craig, glad it helps – I’ve asked on our FB group about the Spanish test and trace app as I can’t find it mentioned on the English Hello Canary’s site but the Spanish version says its mandatory – it is called Radar Covid. We have at least 2 members out there now do ought to be able to get a definitive answer.
“Radar Covid” and this site says mandatory to use it – https://www.holaislascanarias.com/medidas-de-seguridad-e-higiene/ – as does a Lanzarote site that says to use from 14th Nov 20 in Canaries.
12/07/2021 at 12:49 pm #65758Roger Byatt has posted on our FB group details of his trip out to Anfi, I have copied here but on our FB group there are some comments and additional info –
——
I thought it might be helpful to tell you what to expect when you travel to Gran Canaria.
I flew EasyJet from Bristol Airport. Nice, small and uncrowded on Saturday 10 July when I travelled. Even the Long Stay car par is only a short (uphill) walk from the terminal. The parking shuttle buses are not running. On entering the area by the bag drop I had to show the agent my passport, vaccination certificate and Spanish passenger locator (SpTH)QR code. I had not had any one of those I would not have been allowed to enter the queue. I was then given a piece of paper to confirm everything had been checked which I had to show at the gate with my passport before boarding. Without that, I would have needed to go through the process again.
There were just over 20 people on my flight. It will be interesting to see what it is like next week. Mike reported that his Lufthansa flight from Germany was nearly full.
On arrival at Gran Canaria you go through passport control. As the UK is now not in the EU, your passport is stamped with 90 days permission to stay. After that you are stopped to check you have your vaccination certificate and SpTH code to hand. You then go through a temperature check and you SpTH code is logged. Remember you MUST load and activate the Spanish equivalent of the Track & Trace app and disable the NHS one.
Arriving at Anfi the check in is the same as normal except you must let them copy your proof of full vaccination or recent negative test. An NHS test is not accepted.
For the return home you must take a Covid19 test a maximum of 72 hours before your flight. At present it can be an antigen test or PCR. Anfi have a discount with Maspalomas hospital. I believe the antigen test is €15. Ask at reception for a form. This is worth it if there is a group of you, otherwise the small clinic in Arguineguin will do an antigen test (result in 30 minutes) for €40. Without this result letter signed by a doctor you cannot board your return flight.
On arrival in the UK you must also show proof you have booked PCR tests for day 2 & day 8. I bought a kit from Randox using a discount on the EasyJet site. This was £129 for both tests. If you do not have this, it is a £500 on the spot fine. You also have to complete the UK passenger locator form.Do watch the latest Covid19 information. With the surge in cases in Tenerife now coming to Gran Canaria it is possible infection will rise to the point it is put on the red list. As with anything in this pandemic, change may happen with little notice!
12/07/2021 at 11:58 am #65756Hi Craig
It really is best to check the links I gave at the first post as things can change.
From when Richard went out last week, for double vaccinated person:-- have your NHS app and have the print with the QR code to prove vaccination status
- fill in Spanish Health form before you go
- keep checking the Hello Canary’s website in case they change anything and require tests (the UK gov site also has info for travelling to Spain, link in my first post)
- check your airline in case they need anything extra
- Anfi will accept the NHS QR code printout as proof of vaccination
Coming back
- complete the form for coming back to England
- antigen test before you come back
- book day 2 PCR test
For your 11 year old son, I don’t know the answer offhand, but I will have a look later today and suggest you do too and see if we get to same conclusion.
I hope you have a great time out there, another committee member Roger, has just arrived a day or two ago and you will be missing the very hot weather from Sahara by the time you go to Anfi.
Kind regards, Brian
