Hi Peter
Our web developer has changed one of the settings – has that fixed the menu visibility ?

12/05/2021 at 10:43 am #64106Hi Robert
The Scottish rules may differ from the English ones, as least from what I read yesterday & timing of implementation.Hopefully the Canaries will soon be on the green list, though the list reviews are said to be every 3 weeks.
From amber list you can get extra test on day 5 to end isolation early, though that would not help you much for loss of earnings. For airline refund/voucher. from newspapers at weekend it depends on the airline and looks like if airline flying then you have more problems and may get voucher rather than refund. Ryanair seem to be less flexible than some others.
Do let us know how you get on, and I hope you manage to rent your week out.
Regards, Brian
12/05/2021 at 10:32 am #64105It is odd, I totally agree – having read around it seems the difference is you can travel legally to amber list after 17th May but the government recommends you don’t – hence “should not” rather than anything stronger
The transport secretary tweeted: “To protect public health we DO NOT recommend travel for leisure to countries outside of the Green List.”
There are contradictory news reports about whether Spain / Canaries will be on the green list soon, or whether it will be delayed.

05/05/2021 at 9:17 am #63914Hi Peter
Thanks, I’ve raised a job with our developer to check this asap. I can see the menu whether I log in as Admin or whether I log in as a “standard member”. But one of our committee had a similar problem a while ago
If you get a chance could you do a test for me and log out (via boxes at top right or bottom right of page) to see if the menu appears when you are logged out?
Kind regards, Brian
04/05/2021 at 6:44 pm #63903Hi Paul
At the top of every Club webpage you should see a menu bar and one of headings is rentals – which goes to this link – https://anfiukmembers.co.uk/rentals/
resales – https://anfiukmembers.co.uk/resales/resales-tiled/
and wanted – https://anfiukmembers.co.uk/forums/forum/anfi-uk-members-club/rental-wanted/rentals and resales are available in list and tiled versions
If you can’t see the menu bar please let me know – we’ve had one or two glitches with it sometimes disappearing for a couple of people
Kind regards, Brian
04/05/2021 at 12:07 pm #63887I’ve replied to your email but just for the benefit of other members, who may be able to add more info:-
Anfi have been accommodating people in Gran and Monte. Beach was only open for a few weeks after Xmas. It never opened last July when Anfi opened up, nor did Emerald or Puerto.
So Anfi say they are “open” and are not offering rebates yet for 2021.
Anfi have rebated savings July to September in our 2021 fees i.e. 10% off. October 2020 to September 2021 savings are said to be rebated against 2022 fees, expect an update in June or July.Anfi are considering whether to give compensation to when the Spanish government banned UK travel from late December until at least end of May (currently Spain is talking of opening for tourists from June) – we might know more in June.
Anfi have said they are opposed to any compensation to members for when the UK or other countries banned travel to Spain.
Contractually we pay for maintenance of the resort, rather than hotel style usage
That’s as far as I know.
One member told me they were seeking legal advice though I haven’t heard any more about that. I’d be surprised if there is any basis for claim, as we pay for maintenance of the resort, Anfi are open and are returning savings from partial closure to members, but others may know more.Regards, Brian
28/04/2021 at 3:37 pm #63755Some news on travel certificates/passports:-
– 2 weeks ago El Pais published article about development of the EU country scheme and stated sources saying it would be in place by end of June and Spanish government sources said conversations with the UK about the scheme are ongoing – this link
– today the BBC report talks of a pilot scheme in May and Spain hoping for opening up for EU countries in June, though goes onto say that there has been no contact with UK about the issue.
The article says “The UK government is working on a digital system for international travel that would prove travellers’ vaccination status. Transport Secretary Grant Shapps told the BBC he would discuss the issue next week with G7 industrialised countries, including the US and Canada.”28/04/2021 at 11:01 am #63750You are so right that we are lucky to have our good health, and income, to enable us to take holidays when things improve, so many are not so fortunate.
And as you say looking at things overall say 10 years, whilst it is a hit to pocket, it is only a small part of what we pay over a 10 year period.I hope you do get a cancellation and refund from Ryanair.
Easyjet have been very good with me on refunds for cancelled flights, keeping pretty much to 1 month for refund – though I lost out when taking a “free” transfer which was to a lower priced flight & when I had to change again to a more expensive flight they would not honour the original amount I’d paid – lesson is to not accept the “free” transfer offer unless it is to a more expensive flight!!The lack of availability is what we might all expect as you have all the floating and points weeks from last year that were moved over, plus people pushing back this year to the second half of the year (in fact recent press on TUI and others say much of their bookings are for last 3 or 4 months of this year)
Rentals have been very slow this year, again as you’d expect, though there are some going through – if the travel restrictions ease this could pick up quickly, though the EU’s own travel certificate scheme is not due to launch until the end of June
Kind regards, Brian
25/04/2021 at 5:39 pm #63696Hi Paul
Further to Richard’s reply, if Beach is still closed in June then Anfi would re-locate you to Monte or Gran as they have been doing for members able to travel since last summer. Anfi’s position, unless they change tack, will be that they are open, hence no voucher.
We ought to have a better idea by or on the 7th May what the travel implications from UK are in terms of tests etc and then that will affect flights. The airlines have been saying they need time to retrain pilots and staff and get ready for more flights, in interviews the airline association was saying 6 weeks.
easyJet have flights from Gatwick to Gran Canaria from late May and in June are showing Monday and Saturday flights, whether they will take place or cancel is another matter!
I found last October and November when easyJet scaled back they kept Saturday flights and dropped the rest.If the Canary Islands are in the amber group then the additional cost of tests is quite a burden for a family. Even in green you have an outbound test, and I think a return one. But if government allows lateral flow rather than PCR it will bring costs down, and Grant Shapps sounded very keen to see PCR and lateral flow test costs come down when interviewed by the BBC recently.
Gatwick have tests for outbound passengers via their onsite contractor at £60.
Flight prices are certainly going up later in the summer – I looked at the October half term and flying out on Saturday that week is £600 basic, coming back a week later, £400 – outside of school holidays prices are much nearer normal.
25/04/2021 at 2:33 pm #63691The UK government travel announcement earlier in April didn’t really tell us much that wasn’t in the press. The next announcement is reported as being 7th May which will include information on which countries are in green amber or red lists, though there is some pressure for an announcement before the 7th.
Meanwhile the Canary Island President seems confident that the islands will be in the green list as reported in Canarian Weekly on 22nd April. Though an article on the 24th April seemed a little more cautious and refers to negotiating the islands status separately from Spain (which the islands were last year in the travel corridor system).
10/04/2021 at 11:02 am #63403If you are thinking of going to Anfi, or any EU country, later this year do remember you need 6 months left on your passport when you travel. More info on the original post in this section.
The Passport Office have recently said that if your passport needs renewing, you’re best off doing it soon whilst demand is low. If you wait until travel restarts you could be looking at a 10-week wait.
02/04/2021 at 12:24 pm #63291We’d been looking into this as HSC is a company within the Grupo Santana Carzola & it appeared that the Anfi ownership is in a separate subsidiary of the group company.
Geoff Mathews has had info from Anfi confirming this and has posted in our Facebook group today – info copied below:-
=================
I received this from Anfi recently and thought it might be of interest regarding the Insolvency announcement of Hermanos Santana Cazorla SL and the possible effect this may have on our Anfi Investments. Reassuring for now but what next ?Please find copied below the communication from Jose Luis Trujillo, CEO of the Anfi Group, with regard to the announcement on the insolvency of the company Hermanos Santana Cazorla SL:-
“The Anfi Group would like to inform you regarding the information published recently in relation to the insolvency of Hermanos Santana Cazorla S.L., that this company does not form part of the shareholding of the Anfi Group.
The companies that constitute the Santana Cazorla Group is extensive and this specific company is not the joint owner in the Anfi shareholding.
As the Anfi Group has no direct relationship to the company Hermanos Santana Cazorla S.L., we have not received any further information. However, if any further information of interest is to be made available, we will inform accordingly.”
This information will be posted on the web page of the club.
Kind regards,
http://www.anfi.com17/03/2021 at 11:50 am #63011Just a reminder – please do not pay for “free” adverts as the Club has a payment processing charge deducted from each payment – just draft your advert and when you get to payment page, stop, and email me with the advert reference number to make the advert live (treasurer@anfiukmembers.co.uk)
If you do pay and ask for refund the Club has £19.52 of the £20 payment available to refund.
15/03/2021 at 6:16 pm #62980Hi Diane
Assuming you are resale not a direct Anfi purchaser, we have mixed feedback and no real resolution though I asked if one of our committee who are on the liaison committee could raise this at the last meeting with Anfi. I’ll ask if a reply.
One of our committee was able to register and bank resale weeks with RCI and RCI have also asked the if they wish to bank their 2022 weeks as well.
I tried online and RCI only seem to accept Emerald weeks not Del Mar online
Another committee member who has RCI membership but hadn’t registered their weeks tried to register, and RCI ask Anfi to approve (as they do with all registrations to get the resort to confirm) but the request was not answered, and then on follow up, AVC replied saying that only AVC members can register weeks.
This seems out of order, as RCI only need the resort to confirm the person is the “owner” of the week – whereas Anfi seem to be turning this into an AVC issueI’ll let you know if we hear more form the resort committee meetings.
I’m sorry not to have more positive information.
Having said that I would really hope October is on for travel, I have 3 weeks at Anfi and flights booked! We did go out last October and ended up staying 4 weeks – very quiet but otherwise a good stay. And lucky to miss quarantine on return.Regards, Brian
14/03/2021 at 11:54 am #62937Hi Ian (& Jayne)
I wondered if you’d had any development in using points at Anfi or how to use the surplus with RCI, or II or Expedia? I’m sure many members with points brought from 2020, or 2019, would be interested in how your experiences developed from last October.
Kind regards, Brian
13/03/2021 at 6:06 pm #62912Hi Clive
I think you did well to avoid any fees. The floating weeks need to be deposited 90 days before the end of the Anfi year, so 17th Sept sounds little early but not much.
Outbound flights are usable by Spanish nationals returning home, people on business who have essential travel, and possibly by UK or other people in the UK who live abroad. The government has a travel application now that anyone travelling has to fill in.
It did sound like the Spanish Prime Minister and Tourism minister had different stories. Spain has been quoted a few time in last week or so as keen to set up a corridor for UK travel, and France have just included us in their travel list. It seems the success of the vaccine programme makes us look attractive despite the new covid variant. Simon Calder’s travel article today concludes the UK is attractive to several European countries looking to rebuild tourism.
Regards, Brian
03/03/2021 at 11:42 am #62652The EU is looking at a health “passport” to facilitate travel between EU countries, hopefully the UK will be able to use something similar & Spain has talked of a travel corridor – https://www.canarianweekly.com/posts/canaries-confident-tourist-reactivation-health-passport
19/02/2021 at 11:25 am #62444The offer for free rental adverts has been extended to weeks up to end of June – if advertising please don’t pay and email me.
I have in last day to two refunded 5 adverts where members paid.I’ve copied the News bulletin on this below and put in a few ideas for options if you are at risk of losing your week (apologies to those members who already know these, but some members have fixed weeks and do just enjoy going every year and have not ever looked into options)
Very keen to hear back from any members with resale weeks who’ve used RCI
————–
Rental adverts – extended free offer
We have extended the free rental advert offer to cover weeks up to the end of June – with the present situation on travel and restrictions, we have no wish to charge you when the outcome of advertising is uncertain.Members who wish to advertise weeks up to the end of June, just set up the advert, don’t pay, let me know the advert reference, and I’ll make it live at no cost.
For members who advertised in 2020 and were caught up in the closure, and ongoing restrictions, when you need advertise again for later in 2021, please pay as normal and then let me know and I’ll refund the original payment for the 2020 advert – I’ll need the advert or order reference.
Also, and we’ll be sending more details soon, please remember if you can’t use your Anfi week: –
- If you are in AVC you can bank your week with Anfi and use your week in 2022 (but you have to do this 90 days before the start of the week), or bank via AVC to RCI and have 2 years to use RCI points
- You also have option to trade your week or points via AVC to buy holiday with Expedia, but check if the value for money looks good!
- If you own direct, and can’t use your week, and are not in AVC consider joining!
- If you own a resale week, check if RCI will let you bank it – we’ve had different accounts from members, some successful, some not.
If you have resale weeks and use RCI, please do let us know your experience.
11/02/2021 at 1:16 pm #62335I also found this article in the Independent 22nd Jan – it seems the 70% comment was made in January and the tourism minister gave a different timescale the day after and indicated opening up from the Spring – we can only live in hope (unless anyone has found a later quote?)
It is also possible the Canary Islands may get ahead of mainland Spain on vaccination cover.
——————————22nd Jan
Spain’s tourism minister has insisted that the country will open up for holidaymakers in the spring – despite the prime minister, Pedro Sanchez, warning the frontiers could remain closed until autumn.
On Wednesday the prime minister warned: “Only mass vaccination will open the way to the normality we want.”He appeared to indicate that the go-ahead to restart international tourism would happen only once 70 per cent of Spain’s population had been vaccinated – and that was expected to be at the end of the main tourism season.
But in a presentation on Friday the tourism minister, Reyes Maroto, insisted the country would open up progressively from the spring.“Our priority in 2021 is to reactivate tourism and resume safe mobility on a global scale as soon as possible,” she said.
“We hope that at the end of spring and especially during the summer, international travel will resume and travellers will choose Spain as their destination.”
