Hi Kevin
Welcome to Anfi UK. It is very frustrating with Anfi and floating week availability, and we’ve had problems for a few years to our resale floating week. I am guessing that some combination of overselling, of pressure too from Tauro owners booking into Anfi, and as you suggest of some form of discrimination against release week owners compounds our situation. As mentioned above, using your floating week to get a week and rent out, then rent the week you want from owners seems the best route, and has worked for Pam & I. I then wonder what the point of owning the floating week is, though the resale value is very low, if anything – a situation Anfi have created.
Having said about difficulties, I was amazed yesterday when Pam called Anfi to see if we could get a week in early Jan next year(for Monte floating week), and it was available and booked – when we’ve rang before ended up emailing and then email ping pong on not available, ask for another week. Phone call definitely worked yesterday.
In previous years, and perhaps still, Anfi do not seem to be prepared to say which weeks are available, they keep asking for which do we want, then tell you not available.Regards, Brian
26/02/2018 at 8:03 pm #21979Just wondering if any members have tried the observatory or the tour company?
Online the tour company AstroGC.com have two quite useful links, one detail of pickup and the evening, the other shows what is in the sky on a particular date

15/02/2018 at 12:54 pm #21576Bit gutted now Norwegian have released direct flights for April to October – I could have got booked seat, 20kg luggage and better hand luggage deal for £68 each instead of £115 easyjet
For exactly same day – only downside is Norwegian arrive late on Mondays at 11.20pm – Monday return flights are in afternoon15/02/2018 at 12:35 pm #21573Just checked again and Norwegian have released more direct flights from Gatwick to Gran Canaria – at least up to October – prices reasonable though jump up in July and August
Very late for them to release some of these
from Gatwick they fly out & back direct on Monday / Wednesday / Saturday from around £70 outbound with luggage, and £50 return
Monday out gets there near midnight, return flights are in afternoon – varies a bit by day
Edinburgh have some indirect flights

01/02/2018 at 8:38 pm #21078For anyone looking at travelling in next month, Thomas Cook have released discounted fares from various UK destinations to Gran Canaria – the headline fares are hand luggage only so add about £40 for hold luggage + seat booking, or £70 for the full package of extras – still not bad value
https://www.thomascookairlines.com/tca/tcauk/en/offers/shorthaul?destination=LPA&departure=1802
They have also released discounted flights to a whole range of destinations, again for travel in next month or so
29/01/2018 at 3:01 pm #20898Members should have had an email from Anfi today about the BBC programme looking at timeshare claims & lawyers – said to be available on iplayer until 6th Feb
Julie has also posted about this on another part of Forum and added her comments – see this post

=================
Dear Member,
If you have not already done so, we strongly suggest you watch a recent BBC programme called Rip Off Britain. In its latest episode (series 6, episode 5 – from minute 26:30 until 28:31), the programme investigates the serious issue of fake lawyers claiming to help with timeshare problems. The episode can be viewed on BBC iPlayer until Tuesday 6th February. If you are unable to view the episode, we are more than happy to send you a summary.
The programme follows the case of a family from England who owned a timeshare in Tenerife. They were approached by a man pretending to be a lawyer, who said he could get back the money they originally paid for it. However, he scammed them out of thousands of pounds by making up fees that did not exist, and the family never received the money they were promised. The programme goes through the frustration and pitfalls this family experienced by putting their trust in this fake lawyer. Further investigation found that the address he gave of his office did not exist.
We urge you to watch this programme, so that you do not fall for these scams. It is advised that you ignore all unsolicited contact from people claiming to be lawyers, as this is against the code of contact of the Spanish Lawyers Association.
Please contact Anfi Customer Services if you are approached by someone claiming to be a lawyer:
Tel: +34 928 152 990
Email: customerservice@anfi.esWe do appreciate and are thankful for your loyalty to Anfi and reiterate our commitment to keep providing you and your family with great holidays in Anfi in the years to come.
With kind regards,
José Luis Trujillo
General Manager – Anfi Group26/01/2018 at 6:21 pm #20763Hi Richard
I’ve looked back through the enquiries you made over last 2 months, and only one of these might have been affected by the system issue Roger and I mentioned. One of the adverts you enquired on a few times has had over 60 enquiries and Steve has both emailed and tried to phone our member renting and left a message for them to call back, to no avail so far. Hoping the member will respond shortly so we can clarify if the advert is still relevant.
I would really ask for all our members renting to both respond promptly to enquiries and also to pause or take down their adverts once a renter has been found. We have a really good success level in helping members rent weeks, and it needs all members renting to help uphold the excellent reputation we have built up.
Kind regards, Brian
26/01/2018 at 5:09 pm #20759Just to add that even using Pam & I’s points via AVC doesn’t greatly help – the points are at Gran Anfi and options for October 12 months ahead were limited. The 12 month booking only applies to the type of apartment you’ve got points on in the same Anfi resort, in our case 1 bed Gran Anfi, though very limited availability 12 months ahead.
When we wanted a 2 bed, with a 10 month horizon, nothing was offered, even sitting in the AVC office just on 1o months ahead of when we wanted. AVC said they had a queue out in the morning of people waiting to try to book as soon as the office opened.
We also have a floating Monte 2 bed bought resale, and nothing was available for the week we looked for in October. In fact anything October to February seems almost impossible to get, even when emailing Anfi customer services weekly at the earliest time to request a booking.
Have gone in the way Roger suggested, got the floating firmed up for a week late summer, rented it out, and we then rented a week from an owner.
If you wanted to go regularly in October or November I’d be tempted to buy fixed week(s) resale. We’ve got 2 consecutive weeks and either use them or they easily rent out.
By the way we’ve never deposited our fixed weeks with Anfi, we always rent out if we can’t use them, then have the money to rent off an owner, or possibly a reputable timeshare company, or go somewhere else!

26/01/2018 at 1:46 pm #20745Hi Richard
The site is working, and we have been doing spot checks with some owners to ensure they have received adverts. As Roger mentioned we had a problem with the systems enquiry messages which affected some enquiries over a few weeks late last year, though this was fixed in December and we had emailed everyone who had an enquiry that might have been affected.
May I ask you to email Steve, the rentals manager at rentals@anfiukmembers.co.uk with the adverts you have not received a reply on, and please copy me in on webmaster@anfiukmembers.co.uk – and we’ll look into it for you.
Steve has been chasing up some of our members placing adverts who have not always replied to everyone enquiring. We have a record in the system of every enquiry made, though what we can’t track is if the members has replied to the enquiry. Some adverts have a lot of enquiries though we do expect people advertising to reply, and also to take off the advert once rented, sold, or they can pause the advert if they want to whilst the rental or resale is firmed up.
Kind regards, Brian
21/01/2018 at 5:08 pm #20493for anyone who has Saturday changeover and can use Heathrow – worth looking, oddly enough, at BA – they only fly Saturdays though these are direct flights and good times.
Example
can fly out Sat 17th Nov 18 at 10.20a.m. for £79 each including 23kg hold luggage, extra to book seat more than 48 hours ahead (only 5 seats left at this price as I write this post)return Sat 24th Nov leaving at 15.40 also for £79 with hold luggage
Seem very good prices if Saturdays work for you – the prices are a lot steeper around Oct half term – back to rip off!!

15/01/2018 at 11:44 am #20166I’ve opened up a new Topic on Norwegian air as have read on Trip Advisor that Norwegian are not flying direct from UK after March. Even less competition for Easyjet, Ryanair etc!!

09/01/2018 at 5:56 pm #19847I went to the newish national aquarium in Malta last year, it was really good and had some special features for children, hopefully the one in Las Palmas will cater for all ages too – the Malta one also does a behind the scenes tour, more for adults or teenagers, and they show and tell you about a lot of the support work that goes on to make the aquarium work. Amazing to see.
Hoping to take my young grandchildren to the Las Palmas one when we are all out later this year.

07/01/2018 at 6:35 pm #19693Hi Rebecca
Carolyn is absolutely right and you can message or contact John via his Anfi Del Mar Facebook group
https://www.facebook.com/groups/2366863977/Your club has a rentals section – you can go from the menu or this link – if you are after specific weeks please see the Search option at top of rentals page as lets you click the week(s) you are interested in to quickly see what is there (anyone renting points or floating weeks can only be seen currently by scrolling through the weeks in the normal view)
There are a number of sources of weeks
- your club advertises week from members
- Facebook on John’s Anfi Del Mar group, and another Anfi Contracts and Rentals group advertise rentals, as does the Anfi GB group.
- a number of other 3rd parties who are commercial operations offer weeks
Hopefully you’ll look at your Clubs weeks first – we do have a good record of renting out over 80% of adverts and you know you are renting from another member!!
Also you can ask for a week on our rentals wanted section – link – I put on a post recently and had a couple of replies including Leif Erik Larsen who has several fixed weeks including 39,40 and 41, one bed, two bed and Penthouse, and also Penthouses in week 12,13 and 18. If you look on the wanted Forum you’ll see quite a few replies to posts.
Kind regards, Brian
07/01/2018 at 5:44 pm #19682Hi Robert, I found that there is still a WordPress site for them, though info stops 2013 and the people you dealt with were still managing it then.
https://visionsoftheworld.wordpress.com/
and also Jason is on LinkedIn – he was MD and owner of Visions of the World until Nov 2013. Then from Nov 2014 is Website developer and and manager for a leather belt and buckle company – change of direction! There is no info about what happened to Vision of the World
https://www.linkedin.com/in/jasonclowrey/Though on timeshare talk clearly some issues up to early 2014, which perhaps was clincher in people stopping using it, or them closing up? His name appears on one or two other complaints sites, and he seemed active up to 2013.
