Had member report about the bar – see below, yet on Facebook seemed to be lots of interest – have any other members been?  While Pam & I visited in November it was not full, but busy.
Odd that Anfi published a new guide to restaurants & bars while we were out, though did not include the Cocktail Bar.   Is definitely worth a visit to see if you like it.

    ——————–

Whilst here on holiday I see there is a new cocktail bar. Has a nice balcony overlooking the grass area next to the marina office. The musician plays every night. Nice setting but a great shame it is empty every night. Not sure where all the members are as Anfi does not seem busy.

Worth looking at Liverpool as well, I looked at weekend for my sister in law and Liverpool have some better flight times and prices for the Saturday flights in May we were looking for.

And I’m told the car parking at Liverpool is not expensive

That’s a good step for some of our members, or their children who are struggling when the owners are older and not able to travel and enjoy Anfi.

Whilst being god to be released from ongoing maintenance obligation, be good if any pay back for rest of period or value of the week is considered – in my dreams!!

I can see on Facebook a lot of people have been trying the new bar or or planning to. Does anyone know for sure what hours it is open?

They told me they would close one or two evenings mid-week, though I didn’t ask how late they stayed open!    Some Facebook posts are saying 1 a.m.  –  others are saying still open at 11 p.m.

Anyone been in last few weeks?

    #18099

    Hi Ian

Sounds good.  Does the shuttle bus run late so you can get back, or is that a taxi job?

    Regards, Brian

    Hi Glenn

I’ve emailed about your query – the system is working and saves a copy of each enquiry.   I can see two enquiries ref your ads  –   but please see email ref detail on this.

It is always worth checking Spam to see if any enquiries end up there

If you have any ongoing concerns, or anyone else feels they are not receiving enquiries do let me or Steve know and we can check

I was looking at rates for hiring a car from the car rental next to Monte reception.  Looking at their weekly rates it cost me less to for a car for 3 weeks and 2 days from the airport than it would to hire for 1 week on site – based on a VW Golf  – and their base rates are 3rd party insurance.

I notice the rates onsite for a smaller a car are quite a bit less than the Golf category – suggest you look carefully before thinking a short rental onsite would be cheaper  – as I think what you pay for 2 or 3 days would cover a weeks rental from airport and give you a lot more flexibility

Having said that I’m at Beach where parking is free, whereas the other resorts will charge a daily rate, unless you park out on the road.

Opened this evening.  Pam & I stopped off for a drink. They had live music and say they will offer live music most evenings – though will close one or two evenings mid-week.

Cocktails are 6 euro’s each or 2 for 10 euros.

Quite a  bit of condensation on seats, though waiters wipe seats down and offer blankets as well – the owner said they are getting parasols very soon to reduce condensation.

    Well worth a visit

Just to emphasise for any members arriving at Anfi and driving from the airport, until the GC500 opens again in about 2 months i.e. early January  – you cannot get to Anfi via Arguineguin –  when driving from the airport, stay on the GC1 past Arguineguin and come off at the Puerto Rico turn off , then come via Puerto Rico or via Tauro and into Anfi via the GC500 road.

I thought it was worth emphasising this as the road signage is not good at present, and I don’t know if Anfi are notifying people direct about the road restrictions.

[And if you need to shop for food before getting to Anfi, go the Puerto Rico route into top end of Puerto Rico, and turn left into Motor Grande where, within a minute or two, you will find the excellent Mercadona supermarket.  It is open until 9.30 most evenings, and has excellent butchers, fish and deli counters.]

I tried driving into Patalavaca and then going up the hillside road past Spar to get to Arguineguin. The road winds round, past Palm Garden, and eventually brings you out at the other end of roadworks just up the road from the whale fin roundabout.

Not sure this saves any time compared to going via Puerto Rico.  And beware that at the Arguineguin end there are traffic lights controlling where you rejoin the GC500 road.  They only control a 30m or so stretch of road that is one way operation to control exit/entry from GC500 onto the hillside road. The lights are set to quite  long cycle time for no apparent reason,  so I just missed getting through and waited nearly 5 minutes for lights to go back to green.

At Monte Vista they have, within the last few weeks, installed large awnings to give extra shade from the sun over the seating at the front and side of the kitchen area – very useful if you are wishing to keep out of strong son, with young children etc.

I saw today that work has progressed and people were working in the bar area setting up equipment. Awnings around the building have been set up and new furniture is out.  Looks like ready to open very soon.

As some of you will know the Monte pool was brought back into use, then parts of it were closed again for last month or two, whilst leaks on the main pool were investigated.  I’m told the leaks were around the handrail fixings into the pool floor.

Earlier this week most of the sunbed area was brought back into use and yesterday the main pool was reopened.  See photo below.

Pam and I drove over to the west coast last week. On route stopping at the cactus gardens, which is a pleasant way to spend an hour or two.

We went on the new motorway section which does cut down the travel time – and then you still have some scary roads with tight bends if that appeals – was not obvious to me that the old road is closed but did not try that once we found the motorway.

At the north went into Puerto De Las Nieves – lovely area. Found a part away from the port which has a sea pool, very rocky so wear the right footwear!  There is also one of the fisherman’s restaurants in the main port area.

We drove back via motorway, stopping at El Mirador shopping complex – well worth a look round if you haven’t been.

Oddly, walking to mini-golf area today and saw the refit of the previous Indian restaurant going ahead – looks like it may open before too long

See my post on this link for photo

I’ve heard that mini-golf may be re-opening in next few months.   For now people are playing unofficially  and if you look on the AnfiDelMar, John & Linda, Facebook page you can find out who is holding the clubs and balls, & you can then arrange to borrow them for a morning / afternoon

Roger is right that the Montsemar cafe just after Monte Marina apartments was closed along with the other Montsemar beach restaurant near Radison Blu, the latter is now demolished.   Problem with not having correct permissions to operate.
The original Montsemar within the Monte Marina apartments is still operating.  And as I’ve posted today a new Montsemar has opened further round just after Valentino’s

The new-ish ice cream shop in the Plaza continues to do very well, and the restaurants around the plaza have plenty of tables filled at lunchtime and evening, though Pam & I tend to go offsite.
The area just before the mini-golf where the Indian restaurant used to be, looks rather rundown, though there is some work on new paving and steps, and possibly a water feature.

a few days back and excellent as reported above.  Very busy with one or two large groups

Bit of delay but had a really good tomato soup, one of the best I’ve had

Pam & I both had the special with steak and dumplings. Steak was very very good. Dumplings not to our taste and too stodgy.

Apart from dumplings a lovely meal. Wine was very nice as well, and good value.
