I received this email today; do you have advise on whether you consider it a good idea to sign or (reading previous blogs) better to refuse? CarolineJenkins

    “Dear Mr. & Mrs. Jenkins,

We hope you and your family are well.

We also hope our colleagues at the Anfi Vacation Club have completed your requirements satisfactorily regarding your 2020 holidays.

Please be advised that all the Anfi Clubs are still closed due to the state of alarm. We do not know when we can reopen or when the Royal Decree will permit the Hotel Industry therefore please stay safe and calm and we will be posting updates in http://www.anfi.com. We hope we can be up and running shortly, although once again depending on instructions from the Spanish Government.

We wish to inform you that at the moment we are updating our database and updating the memberships as per the changes in the Vacation membership Act, as well as the Data Protection Scheme ( GDPR ).

The updating of the contract is to alter to satisfy the change in Law and offers 50 years renewal on a rolling basis at no cost unless you refuse to it.

Your fixed weeks and Anfi Vacation Club Weeks membership continues exactly the same

We can send the documentation for your approval and signature to your home address, including a prepaid postage envelope to easy the return of the signed documents back to us.

You can take this opportunity to add any family member into your Anfi membership at no cost, so they become joint members with you. If you wish to, please let us know by providing full names and dates of birth of the family members to be added.

We recommend our Members to have their memberships updated, so please let me know if you wish me to proceed with the paperwork.  I simply need a copy of your passports as registered owners to start the process, or if easier for you, full names as appearing in your passports and DOB, as photocopies can be sent later when returning the paperwork.

Please bear in mind that we need your reply to this email in order to proceed.

Best regards and looking forward to hearing from you.

My wife mailed this to Anfi last week:

“I expect you are receiving countless questions about the use of apartments but, reading the latest tourist information from the Canary Islands tourist board, it looks as though UK residents should be able to use their apartments from the 1st July (albeit I have read that Anfi del Mar will not open if communal areas cannot be used) so do you have any more knowledge or are you, like the rest of us, waiting to see what will happen?”

    and received the following reply:

    “Dear Family Jenkins,

Thank you very much for your recent e-mail. Please be advised that all the Anfi Clubs are still closed due to the instructions from the Spanish Government.

Therefore I would like confirm that I have deposited your week 30 of the year 2020 as requested. You deposited week can be used in Anfi until 31/12/2021.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you and thank you for trusting Anfi Vacation Club with your travel needs.

Please do not hesitate to let me know if you would like to reserve new date, or if  have any other inquiry.

Since, as you can see, she hadn’t asked for our week to be banked and our fixed week is only 5 weeks away and there is no mention of paying the deposit fee, we thought this seemed a reasonable suggestion (it remains to be seen if we can get a week in school holidays later this year or next)
