How much control do we have over the sorting?

Can we use an SQL query or are we limited to sorting on fields exposed by the WP plugin?

    Re. Separating Rentals and Resales

Resales has an Anfi Calendar sub-menu which would be more usefully associated with Rentals.

Went through the process of advertising a week, supposedly points booked to a fixed week with Anfi. All looks ok, but you need to scroll down to find the week numbers.

Viewed it as a customer and filled in the form to register interest. Got to the ‘what happens next’ screen.
    1.  This had ‘Previous’ and ‘Next’ buttons which allowed me to see message to/from other rentals.
    2.  When I got back to my message it showed the hidden text from ‘My Timeshares’ and not the ‘what happens next’ stuff. Going ‘Previous’ and ‘Next’ brings up different bits of text relevant to the ‘My Timeshares’ entry or the advert each time.

I presume the ‘Delete’ button for adverts is on its way.

Is it possible to have a two week ownership but only rent one of them out?

    Ok. I see.

If you add an entry into My Timeshares the Notes field says “These notes are private, and will NOT be displayed if you advertise this timeshare”, but they do appear. When setting up the advert it is the default text for “Short description”. If you change the contents of “Short description” it is the Notes that show in the advert.

We must not assist Microsoft in their world domination techniques. For word processing we should include rtf at least. Any document that only opens well in Word, Excel etc. should be discouraged. It’s easy to make a Word table such that it’s a real mess in anything else.

We also need png, jpg, maybe gif. How about video formats with limited size?

    The constitution says
“Each member is expected to : behave in a courteous manner to other members and other Anfi timeshare owners; both in person and on the Club website and forums.”
so they don’t agree to be good by the fact of joining the club and they must be made to by the action of joining the club.
A required tick box on the joining and renewal pages makes sense. We should have some carefully prepared wording for this – Julie?
A reminder link in My Club Admin or Help wouldn’t go amiss.

Members will go into Rentals and Resales for two reasons; to rent out or to rent weeks for their own use from others. It’s not unusual for members to rent extra weeks on top of what they own. I though I ought to clarify that before you do ‘Rentals Available’.

I wouldn’t worry about the terms and conditions being too intrusive for returning users. They will only be using it a maximum of once a year for each ‘My Timeshare’. The rental I offered yesterday was made by using ‘To offer your timeshare for rental or resale, please click here’. As all the week shown were mine I’m not sure how this would look as an ‘Available’ page, which the ‘Terms and Conditions’ panel implies it is.

Nesting should help. We’ll see how two levels go. I agree that if you allow it too deep people will mess it up.

Ok. Can we ask for both with neither mandatory. We have to have their email address, yes?. The problem with no phone number is if they change their email address without telling us then we can’t contact them to correct it without a phone call or letter, and we’d all prefer a phone call. Is it possible to point out that a phone no. can help us support them?

    Looks good.

The apartment number can’t (yet) be a required field for points and possibly for floating either. The law says there has to be one, but generally Anfi haven’t given one. That’s one of the court case situations. New contracts should have them and we should all get one eventually. The same applies to the week number. Once Anfi have got all the contracts legalised (which they don’t even admit to being necessary in spite of several rulings against them) they’ll all be much nearer to ‘fixed’, but we’ve no idea what form new contracts will take or how many decades they’ll take to get there. Eventually all floating and points will have to be floated from a fixed week/apartment by internal transfer, but that’s Anfi innards.

    The FAQ page works correctly.

    > We do not ask for both a landline and mobile.

    But both could be useful

    > I think one or the other should be mandatory

    Yes

    > There should be an optional field for house name

Yes – our house has no number

    > Partner’s name is useful

And sometimes essential to match an email from the partner with the main membership

    > In the existing membership fields I think we do not need Skype or referrer (unless we are going for a member get member competition)

I don’t see how we would use Referrer (other than a competition), but Skype name (and any others that come along) could well be useful – especially when wanting to contact to/from Gran Canaria.

Members have asked when their membership is due, so showing that would be useful to them, and also to us when troubleshooting member access.

    > We do not ask for both a landline and mobile.

    But both could be useful

    > I think one or the other should be mandatory

In the address field the second line reads suite etc, but for UK should be area/town/address line 2 (or something!)
There should be an optional field for house name
It looks as though you can join without giving any details of what you own and it is not obvious that this information is required
In the timeshare details there is no apartment number or type. Presumably one short form per week owned?
How are biennial owners to enter their details
    Partner’s name is useful
On the joining field I am not sure we need the quantity and the drop down dialog box
In the existing membership fields I think we do not need Skype or referrer (unless we are going for a member get member competition)

    #854

Biennial could usefully have a field / radio button for odd/even years.

    Apartment Numbers are all numeric.

I hope my previous post makes sense. I created it in my emailer (as I often do for draft web postings) and whenever I pasted it into here it published as raw html. My emailer is set for plain text, as was the draft message. I had spent some time composing the original reply, covering more points, but I forgot to ‘copy all’ before submitting and lost it due to session timeout.

A somewhat terser version of what I wrote and lost because of login timeout.

    Some notes:
    (a) we need a biennial indicator
    (b) we need a Anfi purchase / resale indicator
    (c) something else I’ve forgotten since I wrote version 1
    (d) ‘Tauro Emerald Club’ is ‘Anfi Emerald Club’ (AEC).

A Biennial week is a sort of ongoing taster that Anfi hope will get turned into an annual week. I believe they are fixed only. I have read in Anfi rules that biennial owners don’t get a contract and have no resort committee vote. Richard owns a biennial and has a contract – thus is the way of Anfi.

When you buy, an Anfi salesperson ‘sells’ you one or more weeks in an apartment at a resort, fixed, floating or points. They take you to an office where the paperwork is done. Unless the deal is for fixed you come out owning holiday rights in terms of floating weeks or points, but still thinking of them as weeks in an apartment. This subterfuge is continued in all messages from Anfi and in talk between owners. What we want to record is what they feel they have as well as any rights in term of points.

If someone buys weeks 15 and 16 in a resort and later buys week 25 in that same resort, that would be two entries; one being a two week entry, the other being a one week entry, even if the apartment types are all the same.

Different resorts should be in different entries.
Different apartment types should be in different entries.
Different purchase types should be in different entries (Anfi / resale)
Different contract types should be in different entries (fixed / floating / points / biennial).
Different sets of contiguous weeks should be in different entries.
Even so, most members will only make one or two entries. Richard and Roger will make more.

Members can own a biennial week as well as annual week(s), but I’ve never heard of anyone owning more than one bi-ennial week.

We need to be able to do database extractions by:
    (a) resort
    (b) fixed / floating / points / biennial
    (c) Anfi purchase / resale
    (d) a couple of other things I’ve forgotten since I wrote version 1.

What you own isn’t strictly needed for points, but you ‘own’ a particular type of apartment and your points are based on that. We ‘own’ two weeks in a two bed at Emerald – that defines what we were sold. Anfi say that what we have is points, but they’re illegal without an underlying apartment number and week. (This is all a contractual issue being sorted by the courts). It makes a difference to us because we could book one or two weeks n a two bed directly, but a one bed in Emerald is considered a swap. It would make no difference to someone else using a week booked with our points, but it makes a difference to us.

Knowing what members own is useful to us when we need to contact a subset of users. Owners of one beds in Gran, say, may have new patio furniture to be told about while two bed owners may not for example.

Weeks may have limited relevance for floating or points at present, but when Anfi are forced to realise that they have to re-issue legal contracts, everyone will have designated week(s), so they will have to be included for all long term.

Maybe you should be aware that at Emerald there is one owner who owns more than 25 fixed weeks, so don’t assume the number of weeks will be small.

Week 53 is never owned. Anfi keep it when it occurs for rental by them to existing owners. They won’t even let you put a guest in it.

Are the thumb up/down and the star intended to do anything? They cause a finger cursor on my Safari as if they were tags, but they are <i> tags which shouldn’t do this. Presumably something in the class CSS does this (out of interest, what) and it is deliberate.

Do Google allow the ‘gearing’ between scroll wheel and map zoom to be set, or is it fixed? A dozen clicks of my scroll wheel takes me from a bunch of markers, only one having a dot, to Anfi Beach Club filling it. Also, when you land on the page expecting the scroll wheel to, well, scroll, it doesn’t – it zooms. If none of this is configurable then we’ll get used to it. The look is too good.

5 minutes is a bit short. It so often happens that some minor emergency (like dinner) interrupts what you’re writing and you may not get back to it for a few hours.

Further to this, what is the timeout between starting a message and being able to submit it as a draft (assuming you can do that)? On the present system you have to remember to Select All and Copy before submitting a change to a draft in case it has timed out and you lose the lot.

That sounds right. Blogs / stories should ideally be narrative. If something isn’t clear that needs clarification, then the questioner can PM the author, and they can fix the blog if necessary.

Neil – we deliberately don’t allow replies to ads. As long as the contact details are correct any questions are to be directed to the owner. That helps us keep out of any contractual issues. If contact details are missing – which happens now, but shouldn’t with an ad creation form – then they contact the Rentals and Resales manager.
