Hello,
My name is James Dykes and I have just been co-opted onto the UK Committee. I thought you might like to know a little about my background.
Following a Business Admin Diploma in Hospitality I worked in the family business of pubs and restaurants for 20+ years with my long suffering wife Christine. Then came a career change following a Chartered Secretary and Administrator Course at Durham New College. (I live in the north east in the beautiful valley of the Tees, recently famous via a Dominic Cummings visit to my home town of Barnard Castle). After qualifying I went to work in Local Government in a number of financial and administrative roles. We came to Anfi first in 2003 and have owned in a number of resorts, changing our holding to a points based one in Emerald. We visit every year if possible, and both our sons and families have also stayed here.
I retired at 60 and am still very active with my four grandchildren. I also do bookkeeping for a couple of local organisations, and run a number of music groups. I love singing with my guitar, and taking long walks on the local Pennine foothills.
I hope eventually to stand for election to the resort committee, but that’s in the future. Meanwhile, I hope that you will feel free to contact me if you have any problems, although I recognise that I am still a novice relative to my Committee colleagues. Having worked all my life in service organisations, I believe I have mastered the art of listening, and of doing my best to satisfy you, the client.
