With regard to the rentals page. Unfortunately we are not able to have the order changed Stephen as the configuration is based on what is currently possible using this standard Woo Commerce package. What our website developer has done is to create the search facility that is worth spending a little time experimenting with. I found that making a simple selection, such a week number(s), to start with works well.

Thank you for your otherwise positive comment.

When will this be formalised please Richard? Thinking of when to update records.

Good to hear from you again on the forum Karen and pleased that you are happy with the new forum, especially as you have posted so much in the past.

Neil has updated the checkout to allow the selection of a 1, 3 or 5 year subscription and added explanatory text. This really does look good and simple to use – I don’t think that anyone can get this wrong. !!! I posted a 1 and 3 year subscription payment and was able to view these payment transactions as well a several test payments made by Neil. An email receipt was received for each order (subscription). I need to explore reporting some more but it is looking good.

    Hi Paul,

I can understand your concern. We had a superb holiday in ABC, week 49. The apartments had new furniture and I think the standard in ABC is now on a high level again. Towels on sunbeds were removed!

Let’s hope the standard in Monte will be better next year.

    Regards,
    Niels

Update to advert post #1511. I have now deleted my problem advert and created a new one and this appear as a rental available as hoped for. No need for investigation Neil, as far as I am concerned. Anyway the problem advert is no longer there to investigate. Em

Re. post #1511. The advert ID for my (not displayed) advert is 1500 if this helps.

    #1511

Something has gone amiss with the advert presentation.

I made a clean start by deleting all of my adverts and then created a new one for a floating Monte week and made the payment. The advert appeared in my account but did not appear in the Rentals listing. Checked the advert again and it showed as being live. Logged out and in again but it is still missing from the listing and a search on Monte apartments for rent drew a blank. What I did notice was that the number of adverts on show increased but mine was not one of them. At the time making this post there were 5 adverts on display – Week 31 Emerald. 21 Emerald, 42 Beach, 41 Beach, 33&34 Beach.

I asked Karen if she would place an advert but gave no hint as to why and this is what she reported. My comments are inserted within [ ].

I really struggled to find my way to placing an advert.

Step 1) Read Terms and Conditions leads me to a dead end , “It Works”. [Neil has this in hand and will probably remove this page altogether.]
Step 2) To advertise please click here, I was kicked out of the system and had to log back in. [I don’t know if this related to Step 1.]
Step 3) After searching for rentals I found the correct page.
Step 4) I decided to place a floating week advert. It states the advert is placed but I can’t see the advert with all the other adverts. When I go back to my advert it shows Live and in green and “Pause” but no further instructions.

Reference #1483. I agree that the ‘Advertise’ page should be removed and replaced with Neil’s suggested alternative.

More detail on post 1461 – Advertise

Goto ‘My Club’/’Advertise’/’ I have read the terms and want to create an advert’. This returns ‘It works!’

    #1461

We currently use the title to provide the order of appearance and this works well. The order looks at the whole title string e.g.
    2016 | 32 (Mon) | Beach, 2 bedrooms
    2016 | 32 (Mon) | Gran, 2 bedrooms
    2016 | 34 & 35 (Sat) | Monte, 2 bedrooms
    2016 | Floating (Mon) | Monte, 1 bedroom
    2016 | Floating (Sat) | Monte, 1 bedroom

So the year and week will direct viewers to the section that they are initially interested in with number of bedrooms easily identified. The location (club) is generally of lesser importance but is plainly on view. We have never had more that 3 pages on view at any one time so searching was not critical but having pictorial adverts will occupy several more pages to scroll through so a search on year, week number, number of bedrooms and club would be useful.

Deletions – Deleting one of my adverts left a ‘page not found’ error when looking at My Adverts there were several identical versions of the same one.

Creation – Creating an advert via ‘My Club’ then ‘Advetsise’ returns a message ‘It works’ so this route is not yet functional.

    Rentals and Re-sales – Outstanding

    • Member able to delete their own advert
    • Administrator to be able to delete any advert (Would this be reflected in the member’s My Adverts?)
    • Administrator to be able to reinstate a member advert (Discuss)
    • Ordering of adverts

In answer to the question at 5 the enquire should contact the Rentals and Re-sales Manager, rentals@anfiukmembers.co.uk, as he/she should be able to contact the advertiser.

    My thoughts

To have members to post their own advert and have them displayed automatically upon payment means that they will be also able to make any changes themselves at any time the advert is live. An undesirable side issue is that having rented out their week/s they could modify the existing advert and so not need to pay for a new one.

What safeguards can we employ to identify when this happens?

Run a regular report but will we probably not be able to determine what has been changed so we may need to keep a record of the year, week and club as we do now?

Receive an email to say that an existing advert has been changed but will we probably not be able to determine what has been changed so we may need to keep a record of the year, week and club as we do now?

Could we have the ability to lock/protect one or two key fields, say, year and week?

Assuming that the expiry date is global and counted from the date of the original posting a shorter active period to expiry date might work for us as long as we are able to identify weeks that have not been rented but are due to expire in the next x days. This would be much more time efficient than what we have to do now. One or two might slip the net though.

We would need to make it clear that the published details for year, week and club are the prime rental terms and must not be changed without the agreement of the Rentals and Re-sales Manager

I have it now Neil. I have edited my advert to show a short title with additional text added to the “More” field. Thanks for the clarification.

Reference post 1266: Using my iPad I was able to pause my advert to remove it from listing in Rental and Resales and then un-pause it to relist. Excellent! I will try this on  my laptop later.

Have repeated the exercise on my laptop and the process does the job nicely but we have to a little patient as the response to the Pause is a little slow to show a reaction.

I deleted my floating week from My Timeshares so as to create a new rental advert and was logged out with …

    “Not found

The requested URL /my-timeshare/ was not found on the server.  Apache/ 2.4.18 (Unix) Server at 217.199.187.189 Port 80”.

No surprise at this stage of development but I am noting this anyway.

This morning I was able to update my Rental advert for week 47, apartment 712, with a photo and this worked well but have noticed that the text that was already present is not now all displayed and scrolling is not available. Selecting the More option only returns a blank “Form ID 930”. This is all coming together very well though.

I created several unwanted adverts and need to make a clean start having now read Neil’s guidance notes. I can pause the live advert but how do I delete the records of the failed attemps?

As far as I can determine the Pause button is not having any affect as the live advert still shows within the Rental and Resales. I was expecting the status of this to change to say “Un-pause” or some such indication that the advert was not on public view.

I don’t have an issue with the suggested two step process and better to use the back-end to create the date rather than add the date within the copied text.

    #1167

Copied text from our current website using the “Paste as text” command as advised. Expected that the use of this command would complete the past but no I still had to use Ctrl V. No code appeared so perhaps this is what is required. Clarification please Neil.

I have since re-read Neil’s instructions and it does say that the command opens a window to paste into, not that it does the pasting. Good.

New rates confirmed at the April AGM are: 1 year £15,  3 years £40,  5 years £65.

(Rental will be charged at £20 per advert)

    • I assume you’ll want rentals and resales presented separately, rather than all together with a filter option. [Yes please] Let me know if I’m wrong.
    • The filters will be more extensive than those currently on the site – I put a couple of straightforward ones on to demonstrate it was possible, rather than as a finished product.
    • Expiry is currently set at 365 days. [365 is good for Resales but for Rentals the expired period is determined by the week number i.e. the offer ceases to be valid once the rental period has passed. Currently we review the advert weekly and remove those with dates that have passed if the member has not done so themselves. Members are asked to remove thier advert if they rent.] Is that sensible? Let me know if you want to change this.
    • What sort order do you want (bearing in mind that the user can always filter to see only the things they are interested in). [Most have a period in mind (week number) for renting so Year then Week Number will be good and as the numbers are not great additional ordering this is not important.]

The T&Cs are bold enough not to be missed but not at all intrusive. Good
