It’s been a while folks. We just returned from Monte Anfi last weekend and below is my latest review

We returned on 11th August, here are my top 5 from this recent trip.

    1) Palm Garden – still as good as ever for food quality, ambience, and setting.

    2) Valentino’s – Excellent, consistent, welcoming. 2 dinners and 2 lunches here….

    3) El Gaitero – Delicious lamb shoulder – tip: if you want that, pre -order when booking, I was lucky and snagged the last one.

    4) Olivers – just a great menu and food.

Not tried this trip from my last top 5:

Sagitario – was closed for technical reasons, the signs indicating this looked like they had been pinned up for quite some time.

Cabosuroeste – just didn’t have the opportunity.

    Newly tried this trip:

Bella Pasta – surprised myself there, my pizza was actually decent as was my wife’s pasta. Far better than previous.
Tapas del mer – Decent food, the sardines are well worth a try.

My gripe with on site is the price (compared to off site).

    I hope this is useful.

Only tried Bahia from that list and I agree.  Very local theme.  Thanks!

So we went with Anfi – far cheaper for our group of 8.  Excellent service.

Hi all, I have tried to reach Hospitales San Roque to enquire about a group booking (8) for the lateral flow test.  I cannot reach the email covidmaspalomas@hospitalessasnroque.com .

We are in Anfi from 4-11 Aug, I imagine tourist volumes will have increased and therefore the need to book will be greater.

Has anyone else had issues with this?

Has anyone used the service?  It reads as though you muct collect the results the next day which means 2 trips to Meloneras?

    Thanks and Regards, Liam

Thanks Brian, those are the ones.

I have requested also to join the FB group.

    Hi all

I just remembered, it was Hoppa. But seems more expensive that Anfi transfer, even in a private minibus.

Nice, looking forward to trying that one day next week.  I wonder if they do the perfect ice cold pint like that English couple used to server there.

    [Mouth waters…]

Thanks Phil – evening or lunch?

We have been there a number of times for lunch fish “a la plancha” is excellent

    #25359

Thanks Phil – how would you compare it to Oscar’s (which I believe is just round the corner) for price, food quality and service?

    Cheers Liam.

I am disappointed that during our stay next week they are closed for renovations.

    Muy triste.

HI Wolfgang, what is the data source?  Do users add their rentals / resales directly?

Thanks all for the detailed responses.  Hold luggage is a last resort for me as we are only there for 5 nights so want a quick getaway.

Hi we have used 2 hope flights via madrid before with Iberia and they have worked very well indeed.

I am astounded at the current price of direct flights from Manchester.  Looking for flights during May SPring Bank week.

Does anyone know if ALL schedules are our yet?

Visited twice this holiday.  Just excellent as usual.  My only disappointment is that when we go on the first 2 weeks of the school summer holidays the “mama” who normally manages front of house has been on holidays herself.  She is a lovely lady and adds a certain something to the evening – that is not taking anything away from the other floor staff.

Food excellent each time, we ordered a range from the menu and the specials.   All the lovely little touches still present.

    You gotta eat here.

We visited this time after a lovely meal last year.  It was very much the same, beautifully prepared food and excellent service.  Last year I recall service was a little slow – not so much this time.

There was a review on TA remarking that the food was too salty.  My comment would be its well seasoned – and does not need any further but that is not a criticism.

The fish soup is awesome, I got a small portion as a starter, and would have got a large portion for main had I have known how good it would be.

    Lovely

With doubt IMHO the best place to eat in the area.  The setting, the welcome, the tranquillity, the selection and quality of food and drink – second to none.

We ate there twice, I can personally recommend the goat stew (starter) and the calves liver.  Delicious.  My sons had on separate occasions the beef fillet, and the house special pasta (at the time was tagliatelle with pesto, Serrano ham and roasted tomatoes).

Book in advance, and if you cant a terrace table (or the lovely mosaic table) book a week in advance.  If you are not there yet – but want to book ahead –

Visited only once this trip.  Still a lovely warm and friendly atmosphere and damn good canarian grill.  Well priced, in fact same as last year except the wine (Torres Celeste) that has gone up €2.  Still a good drop.

    Still highly recommend it.

You can also get a half decent pint in the Irish bar downstairs beforehand…  🙂

Furthermore the gym was the busiest I have seen it.  Best off getting there for 8, or else leave until later in the day 11 onwards.

    Hi Brian

The restructure of the RHS menu options to show most recent posts is an improvement.  I would be interested in more of what features the add-ins will provide.

    Cheers – Liam

    Hi Brian

The gym is very suitable.  It is far better equipped than a few years ago.  There are cardio machines (treadmills, cross trainers etc). A number of pulley weight resistance machines.  There is a free weights area with benches.  There is also a studio with an assortment of weights and kettle bells.  In short anyone should be able get a half decent workout in.

I switch daily between a run to Arguineguin and back, or a workout in the gym.  The anfi cross training group is ok for short workout.  But don’t expect to work off a decent “happy hour”…

    regards Liam.
