I always hire a car direct from the Airport, no social distance needed till arriving at Anfi, I’m sure receptions at car hire and Anfi will have a system in place to maintain seperation for when the restrictions are lifted.

My weeks are October 41/42 …. fingers crossed there open then.

I used Autoreisen last October, very good company to rent from, no hassle no extra charges, full to full fuel, can’t fault them. Booked on line at home with nothing to pay till arrived at their desk.

Hi Brian, yes sorry it is Insurance 4 car hire, typo.

I only paid €94.54….. £81.80, (€900 deposit) for a Renault Megane, second car was a Golf, you get what you pay for I guess.

I got the impression that Interrent get the cast off cars from Goldcar/Europcar to get more use from them once they’re tatty as I don’t remember Interrent being around the last time I was there which was 3 year ago plus they had the Goldcar logo in the rear window.

As a matter of interest, if any of you are not aware there is a UK company called Insurance 4 Hire which I use all the time, especially if you’re going abroad more than once a year and hiring a car everytime.

sales@insurance4hire.com  they charge £42.99 which covers the full 12 months regardless of how many times you hire, there is also a policy to cover other family members not necessarily going at the same time, that obviously costs a bit more. The policy covers the excess which can be imposed by the hire company for all the things such as i.e tyres, under car damage, theft etc. which they charge the earth for. £4 to £5 per day is typical.

I had a scrape several years with a wall in Madeira which the hire company estimated cost of repair €400 which I had to stand, Insurance4hire reimbursed me with no quible.

Hired a car from INTERENT last week, they turned out to be part of Goldcar, quite a lot of superficial damage scratches and scrapes etc, inspection agreed with them so took it, once outside in good light at my overnight stop Hotel I noticed front tyres were on legal limit, N/S one had slight damage also. Got Hotel reception to phone them on my behalf, message back was take it back and exchange it for similar.

Upon arrival at there desk in Airport I was told to go to Goldcar to collect keys for replacement as INTERENT didn’t have a similar car, having collected keys I had to go and find it, not in the normal place but outside in a compound. Having found that and the car I asked a staff member to inspect it with me but he just drove off, not happy by now! upon his return he got agitated saying he didn’t have to inspect it with me as he had already done it, he gave me the report and a pen on asking for it, I checked it over and found more damage, he agreed and signed the report, the front tyres on this car were better but well worn but still legal so I took it.

I should not have had to do all the chasing about, I was the customer!! Satisfaction NIL

Will not be using them or Goldcar in the future, be warned. Forgot to mention I booked this car through JET 2, they have been told.

Obviously more research is required Brian, I agree with what your saying, I did think the contract is with Anfi and thinking about it it has to be, but my contact did say as resale it is not necessary to ad children. It’s a pity I didn’t get your response sooner as she doesn’t work Fridays so unable to go back to her either way. I will contact her again upon my return home to get clarification. I didn’t want to dig too deep in customer services due to lack of privacy and not wanting to put my contact under pressure to reveal anything she shouldn’t, if indeed resale members are not affected asking for a contract did not seem appropriate.

The price outside of the January free amendment period is €75 per week owned so not worth risking anything untill Richard has had chance to discuss with relevant parties.

I’m in Anfi right now, went into Customer Services to enquire about adding my kids names to their data base. I was told that as I bought resales it did not apply to me as I don’t have a contract as such direct with Anfi and that my kids would still inherit the weeks if they wished same as now. Not sure where that would lead to in a legal situation, looking forward to hearing Richards and Rogers comments after they have met with Anfi powers next month.

I think that the advice given regarding this issue is sound advice….. take great care and be careful, read the documents thoroughly.
