I have just had a conversation with Dial An Exchange. They are now owned by RCI and, as a result, are unable to accept any Anfi weeks into their bank unless deposited by Anfi on behalf of the member. I think that closes the last door that those of us with resale weeks (those not bought from Anfi) had to deposit weeks we cannot use.

Hi Haydn
Anfi believe that these new contracts will protect them against future legal claims, which is why they are keen for people to sign them. However, they have still to be tested in court.
The advantage for owners of floating weeks is that it confirms the identity of the week and apartment that you are effectively putting into the floating pool in order to be able to float. It also provides a new ‘flex’ option whereby you have the choice to opt out of the floating system after 5 years and revert to the identified fixed week and apartment.
I do not think there is any compulsion on anyone to sign one of these contracts. If you are perfectly happy with things as they are then don’t do it.

Hi David
I would avoid this as my experience is that the contracts offered compel you not to offer the week for sale through any other means. The only time I have heard of this being sucessful is if your week is one that Anfi Sales believe they can easily resell, in which case they will buy it in themselves. Otherwise people have been waiting 2 years or more and nothing actually happens.
If you want to leave your contract then I would recommend selling it privately (the club has a listing service at https://anfiukmembers.co.uk/resales/ ) or possibly using an agent like Leisure & Travel or Timeshare Hypermarket, but only as long as they do not want up front fees.

I know that we have scrutinised the costs quite carefully in Gran Anfi. We have always sought to ensure there is a good reserve for future major replacement items so that large short term increases can be avoided. We requested management to carry out an analysis of the durability of various items based on the experiences of the older clubs and then use that data to forecast reserve fund needs over the next 25 years. This has been the basis of our reserve calculations since.
The other factor masked in the data produced by Wolfgang is the higher cost of many things in Gran Canaria due to the fact that it is an island. Virtually everything the club consumes, like bedding, has to be transported to the island which adds cost. Furthermore, gas and electricity costs are higher than the mainland.
As David points out, staff costs are higher than we are used to seeing because of job protection and the illegality of the flexible ‘zero hours’ contracts used in the UK and Germany.
While I do not like increased charges, I have no reason to believe that Anfi is profligate.

Hi Diane & Steve
If you can email a copy of what you have been asked for to me: membership@anfiukmembers.co.uk then I can call Customer Services and query whether it is the correct paperwork for you.

Member, Gran Anfi CommitteeI should add that the move in January is simply seeking approval for a rights issue of shares raising funds for the IFA Group do do a number of things, only one of which is taking full control of Anfi. After the shareholders approve the rights issue, it will take some time for it to happen and only then can a deal with Cazorla happen. I suspect we are a long way from the end of this story.
I went to Khun in the middle of October. I have to say I was very impressed with the food. It is a fusion of Asian styles with a specialism in sushi and Thai, I would say. I tried the Tuna ‘meatballs’ (€19.50) that won an award. They were very nice and beautifully presented but, in my view, something like the Pad Thai (€15.90) represented better value and a tastier dish. For me, the meatballs were a little too subtle in the flavouring.
The starters were excellent. My favourite was the Karaage Chicken (€9.50) and the Korokke (€9.00).
For dessert I had the rollito de platano (€8.50).
We chose the local Lanzarote dry white wine ‘Rubicon’ to go with the meal. Not cheap at €25 a bottle, but very nice.
If you want a special evening with great food, this may now have overtaken Maroa as my favourite on-site eaterie.
The Fun Park was fully operational last week (11 October 2018) but seemed to be mainly operating in the evenings. I saw quite a few children using the pedal car track, bungee trampolines and roundabout. I understand these are all ‘paid for’ activities. Looks good, especially if parents want to go to the market or cocktail bar.

Last Christmas my wife and I spent nearly a week in Las Palmas because the flights that coincided with our Anfi weeks were more expensive than flying 6 days earlier and staying in a reasonable hotel. I am so glad we did. Although we had visited the city before, and delighted in contrasting places like the Cathedral, Christopher Columbus’ House and the Elder Science Museum, staying there gave us a whole new perspective. Las Canteras, a wide sandy bay, and the street cafes and bars were a delight. If you have not been to Las Palmas, I recommend it.
We stayed at Hotel Concorde, which I would judge at 3* standard. It is a stones throw from Las Canteras and short walk from the science museum. There are frequent, cheap, buses to other parts of the city from right outside and the view from the breakfast room is great.
I will be arriving at Anfi on 16 June for a week that includes the next Liaison meeting with Anfi management. This is on the Thursday. If anyone has anything related to Gran Anfi they want me to put on the agenda, please contact me as soon as possible.
I am also very happy to meet up anytime while I am there. Gran Anfi reception can pass messages onto me.

I walked from Anfi to Arguineguin in February along the footpath by the beach. There is a section that is blocked off but everyone (especially locals) just walked around it on the beach.
There is a new footpath being built at road level. I am out there in June and it will be interesting to see how that is developing.

I am happy at Anfi and have no intention of making a claim. I do think the claims have rather dominated posts on our site. The disgruntled views in no way represent the views of the majority of our members. Only about 10% are making claims and the rate of new claims has slowed down, hence the focus of CLA on other resorts.
Lets have more positive comments, reviews of places and advice.

Does it link to the German service https://www.timeshare-markt.de/gebuehren.aspx so an advert loaded on there automatically goes onto the app and vice versa?
