    Ok I’ll bite.

I understand you are disalusioned with Anfi, which is why you are making a claim against Anfi. This is entirely your right and I genually hope you get the satisfaction you seek.

However I must take issue with some of your comments, I can see no fast food outlets at Anfi, the most recent addition is the Ice Cream parlour which appears to get very favourable reviews. The new restaurant at Gran Anfi is hardly fast food, nor does this appear the case with the latest addition, Chapter One.

I would be the first to agree the quality and value for money from the on site restaurants is not great, but that has been the case for several years now, therefore, whilst it may not have improved greatly, I see no evidence to justify your prediction of a plaza full of fast food outlets.

Re the “tacky fun park” as someone who occasionally travels with our young grandchildren, this is a great addition, it’s hardly going to be a theme park, I’m sure it is a facility that will prove popular with the many members who have young children.

I understand some people are unhappy with Anfi and their sales techniques but I feel negative posts are unhelpful, there is sufficient information on lines inform potential buyers and a dedicated section for those making claims.

It appears to me the vast amount of members are very happy as evidenced on the Facebook pages which is significantly more positive than this site has been of late. I hope Brian’s atttempts to rejuvenate the site to share news and reviews is successful.

Angus, I hope you can escape the clutches of Anfi soon and allow you to move on.

Thanks for the update Brian, I have tried to support the site but, as you know I have become somewhat disillusioned of late. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate Anfi has not behaved as they should and appreciate people’s decision to make claims, but, on a personal level I have no issues with Anfi and I felt some of the posts were creating a very negative impression on a holiday resort that has meant so much to my family and I am sure many other members, for the past 15 years.

Thank you for pointing out that, despite the various forum subsections, I, like many others are guided by the “recent posts” on the side of the page rather than opening the various forums, hence my impression the site was becoming dominated by “claims”.

Feel free to use my posts as you feel fit, I hope you are successful with your efforts to regenerate the site.

I would suggest your response should be on the “claims ” forum. If your not interested in general information as per the clubs stated benefits, then I would politely suggest you think before you print. I return home Monday, this will be my last attempt at trying to encourage an exchange of information about “Marios Bistro”. Your post has confirmed my disillusionment with this forum. (Not Anfi).  My membership runs out soon, I will not renew.

I see Julie Jordan has suggested an alternative claims related social media group, I would agree the ratio of such posts is disproportionate to the number of members. I also agree we need more members to post reviews, information etc. The home page lists the benefits of being a member.

“information & reviews from members who are holidaying on the resort 52 weeks every year
members’ forum to share information and request advice”.

I am not criticising those claiming against Anfi, but my own feelings and that of two other members I have spoken to during the past 10 days the site no longer delivers for the majority. I have posted several times recently re my holiday experience and will continue to provide updates.

We exchanged our October fixed weeks to April this, everything went very smoothly and we are happy with the apt. We have noticed how much quieter it is at this time. 11am and the poolside is very quiet. The weather has been good, not as warm as October, in fact we have not used the Air con at all. Evenings are cooler, not unpleasant but a an extra top is needed, especially if eating outside. The Island is greener and the reservoirs are full as a result of the heavy rain in February.

Went to Fernados Flambe restaurant earlier this week we hadn’t been for several years, it was very good. The Black Pan, Valentinos, Cabo Sureaste remain our favourites, however one great find was Vivaldis by the harbour in Puerto Rico. Really good freshly prepared pasta, run by nice young couple, the situation is not as bad as eating in the main commercial centre, you have a nice view of the Marina. Best to book.

Only ate once on site, we tried the Kuhn at Gran Anfi, lovely restaurant, food was good, but as usual for the on site restaurants, overpriced.

The new Aquarium in Las Palmas is worth a visit 91 bus takes you to the door. It will take at a leisurely pace about an hour and a half to get round. It’s an easy walk to the old town if you want to extend your day.

Trips to Firgas and Teror we’re good, Gauyadeque is always worth a visit. Restaurant Vega at the of the valley is good.

Mogan as usual is a lovely place to spend the evening.

we have been coming here for almost 17 years, I think we have done everything, several times! If anyone has other suggestions place share them.

This weekend has been cloudy in the morning, so we have ventured out in our hire car. We normally come in October, perhaps the heavy rain in February but the mountains are so green, so different from what we’re used to.

nice evening in Mogan, with a meal at Vivaldis in Puerto Rico harbour on our way back, can’t recommend high enough. Great freshly prepared food from a lovely couple. Nice view over the harbour.

Anfi looks good, everything is in good order, obviously the PA pool gets refurbished next week, in my opinion, badly needed, but a pain for those here from the 30th.

not eaten on site, best meals, Cabo Surestea, black pan and Vivaldis in Puerto Rico. 1 week to go, any questions, ask away😀

I’ve been following a thread re “sun bed war” on another social media site. It has provoked some strong opinions, in some cases quite extreme, on how long, if ever, beds can/should ever be left unoccupied with towels and other possessions reserving them.

Whilst not wanting to start another  debate, although no doubt there is a danger opposite opinions could do just that. I thought I would simply ask peoples thoughts on my routine.

I like to be by the pool early, usually by 09.30, not in an attempt to grab a sun bed, there are always plenty available at this time (usually early October). I love this time as it is quiet and like to watch the day come to life. I place towels on two beds and enjoy a half hour swim, the beds are empty during this time until my wife comes down from the apartment to join me. During the rest of the morning we use the beds, But like to swim together, so the beds will be unoccupied for 20 – 30 minutes during this time.

If plenty of empty beds are available we occasionally go for lunch leaving our towels on the beds until our return, possibly 45 minutes or so later, if it is busy, then we take our belongings and leave the beds for people to use.

I know others have similar routines, I don’t feel this routine is selfish but some people may differ.

I should emphasis I only do this if the pool is generally quiet and plenty of empty beds are available, during high season I may think differently. Obviously those reserving groups of sunbeds and not returning for hours as I have witnessed, is totally unacceptable.

PA pool refurbishment starts 30th April due to finish 25th June.

If as you say you were promised exclusivity a GA then I understand why you feel aggrieved, however When I purchased my weeks 15 years ago I was never promised exclusivity, quite the opposite, the reciprocal arrangement with other clubs was an atttaction, when GA was built, at no time was I given the impression their pool would be exclusive. Whenever visit I see towels from all clubs around PA pool, I have no issues with that.

I agree with Brian, all clubs will experience pool closures during refurbishment which is when the reciprocal arrangement will be of great help allowing members to enjoy a relaxing break.

Just don’t get me started on reserving sun beds and not using them for hours, (may have just opened another can of worms😜)

I received an email today informing me PA pool will be refurbished 30th April – 25th June. Positive news but having been at PA when the previous refurbishment was carried out it  does impact.

Although few people will spend the day in the apt and other pools are available as are vouchers for sun beds on the beach it is an inconvenience. There was a thin layer of dust over the balcony and it was not possible to leave washing outside. However it has to be done, being a year round resort There is no option, ultimately it is for the best. This is the first year we have exchanged our October fixed weeks, fortunately we leave the day the work begins. Hopefully others do not find this refurbishment too much of an inconvenience

Unfortunately my wife took ill today, as a result the doctor has told her not to fly, whilst it is serious, surgery will make things better, hopefully we will get a holiday later this year, however with the cancellation being so late (due to arrive Monday) it would appear we don’t have any option to reschedule. We will have to see what our insurance covers, but I suspect it won’t include “timeshare fees”. So I’m afraid I won’t be able to pass on any news or points of interest from Anfi for this year as I had hoped to do, the bottom line is my wife’s health is the priority, we will have other holidays.

I have exchanged my usual fortnight in October for 24th April – 8th May, Anfi dealt with my request very promptly and noted my preferences for the apt. This is the first time in 14 years we have requested an internal exchange, whilst acknowledging my request Anfi will not confirm the apt we will be allocated. I find this strange as they must know what is available. I will feedback on the apt and, to practice what I preach any other information that may be of interest to members keen to continue enjoying Anfi and Gran Canaria

Can I ask if there is any further news on the planned refurbishment of PA pool?
