The Club is run by a committee elected by members. The composition and election of the Committee are set-out in the Constitution – Section 2.2 At each members’ general meeting three Committee members stand down and an election is held to fill vacancies.

The Committee’s formal responsibilities are set out in the Constitution – Appendix B The Committee meets about four times a year, including the weekend of the members’ general meeting, and manages the operation of the Club. The Committee requires a quorum of five members present at each of its meetings.

The Committee is friendly and co-operative and works well as a team. Each Committee member has a particular role and members are requested to contact the relevant Committee member in the first instance. with any query or information. Should they not be available please contact the Chairman or any other Committee member who will do their best to assist you.

The Club Constitution allows for the co-opting onto the Committee of new members between members’ meetings and we are always looking for new blood. If you think you might be interested in joining the Committee, you are welcome to come along to one of our meetings on a totally ‘no obligation’ basis and see what you think. Reasonable UK travel and accommodation expenses can be claimed if necessary. Contact the Chairman or any other Committee member if this appeals to you – you will be welcomed with open arms!

Out of 9 committee members there are 4 formal roles – Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, and Treasurer. The other roles include Membership Secretary,  Social Secretary, Rentals & Resales Manager, European Clubs Liaison and Webmaster.
The Committee’s responsibilities include:

  • to maintain a members only website providing information on travel opportunities, resort updates, bar and restaurant guides, places of interest on Gran Canaria
  • to provide an exchange, rental and resale facility on the Club’s website
  • to manage the funds of the Club ensuring expenses are budgeted, subscriptions and fees are collected, and payments authorised
  • to maintain membership records
  • to arrange, encourage and support social meetings for Club members both on Gran Canaria and in the UK
