I’ve put some notes about financial issues at Anfi  into the next Newsletter as another member asked about this recently and one of the committee did some notes.

We’ll also no doubt touch on this topics in the members meeting on the 23rd March.  I’ll be emailing the invitations out very soon.

    Kind regards,  Brian

Just a quick update on progress on membership fees – first though, I would be really grateful for feedback on any ideas for using some of the Club funds to improve services to members please email me – treasurer@anfiukmembers.co.uk or post in this forum.

All members subscription fees had been updated to the new rate by the end of last year – you can check your subscription in the subs area of your membership –  https://anfiukmembers.co.uk/my-club/my-details/ and then click on the “subscriptions” link to the left of the screen.

Members with 3 and 5 year subscriptions are being updated manually – members due to renew in March and April have already been updated.   There remain a considerable number to work through, though we will complete these before the renewal is due.  (We are adjusting the renewal date so that the months remaining from 1st Jan 2022 are priced at the new reduced rate, which extends the renewal date for the membership.)

I asked Richard if he had heard more about the children’s playground being resurfaced and opened up and Richard said that no change so far, and no work at the moment, and the liaison committee have chased and want completed before June.

Anfi have now issued the following statement on the anfi.com news:-

“Some of our members will have seen that the children’s playground has been closed for some time pending the complete renovation of this area.

Before any new playground equipment can be installed, the area is to be extended slightly, the ground needs levelling, and a small retaining wall will be built where the ground slopes away.  Then the new playground equipment will be installed, new soft impact flooring will be laid and a new fence put around the whole area.

Artificial grass will also be laid on the remaining surfaces, particularly around the children’s picnic area.

We will keep you informed of the progress.”

Just  a shame it’s taking so long, though sounds like will be good when finished.

also you can see brief notes from the November meeting on this post

    #75017

I had overlooked posting some brief notes from the Nov meeting – please see below:-

Notes from members meeting by Zoom 29th November 2021

1 No current cause for concern regarding safety of our weeks

2 Best to pay maintenance fee for 2022 and if not paid for 2021

3 Expect more from administrator in months not weeks – the next liaison committee meetings are in Feb and hope for update around that time

4 Some members looking to get out of maintenance liability and one option is just to hand back to Anfi

5 Members who bought direct are under pressure to sign new contracts and the latest Anfi tactic is to ask for new contract before actioning voucher (see note at end)  – we don’t know if Anfi will start to approach resale buyers to sign new contracts, though the members on the Zoom call with resale weeks have not been approached.

6 Members are not responsible for Anfi’s debts

7 Elected representatives will continue to engage with Anfi regarding administration

8 That the maintenance fees have been held down compared to the last year the clubs were fully operational, to the benefit of all. The reduction in 2020 compared to 2019 was 10%, in 2021 it is 7%.

9 We expect 2022 to be back to around 2019 levels.

10 All points (and weeks) expiring at the end of 2021 are extended a year – see details with 2022 maintenance invoices

11 Anfi Sales inventory is available to book in order to increase effective capacity.

12 Members with fixed weeks who could not bank them, and those who had booked with floating weeks or points but then were ‘no shows’ at the clubs can obtain 60% reduction in the maintenance fee bill (We recommend this over any voucher offer).  See details with 2022 invoices

13 The Administrator has currently confirmed existing management in post. There seems to be little effect on daily operations. To preserve their rights, members should pay their bills. This process is likely to take some time.

NB Anfi have been telling some members that any compensation entitlement that they are due for missing weeks will not be honoured until they sign the updated contract.

2 reminders for members based in the UK:-

1 health cover  – if your EHIC is expiring or you haven’t got one, then apply online https://www.gov.uk/global-health-insurance-card (this also steps you through options if you are in UK but have other citizenships)   – please remember as stated earlier in this topic, the EHIC is not a substitute for proper travel insurance.

2 passports – recent news highlighted cases where people turned away at airport because the don’t have enough time left on passport – see earlier posts in this topic and the note below from Graham on our Facebook group:-

“I think a reminder about passport requirements would be good. It was flagged today on Virgin radio.
Your passport must meet 2 requirements. It must be:
    a) less than 10 years old on the day you enter (check the ‘date of issue’)
    b) valid for at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave (check the ‘expiry date’)

Check both the issue date and the expiry date in your passport. If you renewed your passport early, extra months may have been added to its expiry date. This could affect the requirement for your passport to be less than 10 years old.”

we found that the member who could see the menu bar was not logged into the website and when they logged in it disappeared from all the browsers they tried

We have passed that info onto our website developer along with some other tests and hope that will help isolate the issue

Richard Weston has posted on our Facebook group about the rules Anfi follow for week  53

    ——————

The “ghost week” is unowned and offered in this order.
    1. Owners week 52&1 offered to rent 1st
    2. Owners of week 52 2nd then
    3. Owners week 1 3rd.
    4. When the week is not taken up by any of these owners the rest of us will be offered to rent the week.
That was confirmed to us in our recent committee meetings
I don’t know when it will be put on offer but likely after June.

    Hi Moira
There was a similar question on our Facebook group a few days ago and Geoff Mathews and other members replied
    –  first though I’ll put 3 links at end of this where you can check for latest as things can change though hopefully will ease rather than tighten

For fully vaccinated which includes booster within last 270 days
    –  for entry to Spain/Canaries – need to fill in Spanish  locator form – you can do most upfront and complete last bit within 48 hours of going
    – you don’t need PCR or lateral flow test
    – best to print off your vaccination record and take paper copy in case needed

    – coming back to UK (for England,  check for Scottish / Irish / Wales variation) the day 2 test has gone and the passenger locator form (plf) is due to be simplified –  you must fill in the plf before you check in to fly back   –  suggest you do at Anfi and ask reception to print off
Possible government will have changed plf requirement before you get back – just keep looking

    For links to latest
    – Canaries tourist site – look under coronavirus section – and scroll down to bit for non Schengen travel and UK –  https://www.hellocanaryislands.com/travelling-to-the-canary-islands/
the Spanish travel form is on https://www.spth.gob.es/

    – for UK gov view on Spain / Canaries rules – https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/spain/entry-requirements

    – for UK gov requirements for return –  https://www.gov.uk/guidance/travel-to-england-from-another-country-during-coronavirus-covid-19

Hope that helps and that you have a great time at Anfi – do put any feedback on the forum or our Facebook group – https://www.facebook.com/groups/anfiukmembersclub

Spain is relaxing travel rules for teenagers from Monday – https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-60335735

“Mr Valdés said that 12-to-17 year-olds who have not been vaccinated against Covid will be allowed into the country from Monday 14 February, if they present a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of arrival to Spain.
The restrictions will be lifted from 23:00 GMT on 13 February.”

    #73637

I think it depends where you prefer to be – and at what floor they are offering you.

I like Gran Anfi but it is further away from the central area

    #73636

Anfi have not been asking resale buyers to sign new contracts – all the  focus has been on direct buyers

Some members have asked and Anfi said not necessary – whether that will change remains to be seen.   So far no resale buyers have taken a legal claim forward and the claims companies seem to look only for direct buyers – the original court case was a direct buyer so no precedent for resale.

    Regards, Brian

    #73635

The new contract is simpler to follow for fixed weeks – for floating and points it does put in a underlying fixed week and then puts that into a scheme similar to existing – so you end up with the same booking system

the contract has a clause that let’s Anfi have first refusal if you decide to sell

there are some notes about the contracts in the forum  –  we don’t see any reason not to sign as David has said
Anfi were offering incentives to sign especially if you have lost weeks in the pandemic period – they may not be doing that offer now

    Regards, Brian

    #73634

    Hi Eric

I paid at the end of December and it went through OK though each payment had to be approved in my cards app (JaJa – the ex Post Office card)
I paid one week on my Barclaycard and that also either had a 6 digit code or in app approval, I can’t recall which)

You’d think Anfi would be keen to help and get money in!    Perhaps leave a week or so and try again

    Regards, Brian

    #72267

    Hi Anya
Bob is absolutely right. In the current climate Anfi are super keen to close off all old contracts and have in fact been somewhat aggressive in requesting members, who bought direct, to sign new contracts or to hand back contracts.
As long as you were paid up to date when you handed back that will be fine.

    Kind regards
    Brian

I’m sure you will also join with us in thinking of those members who have lost loved ones and decided to give up their time at Anfi, or who have suffered major health problems affecting their ability to travel, or are not able to continue with their Anfi ownership.
Our thoughts go out to our fellow members affected, and we wish them the very best for the future.
