    Hi Neil
Does depend what type of food and level of spend you are looking for – ones Pam & I like include

    In Patalavaca near the roundabout
    – in the places near the pharmacist is Fernandos – very good value, good food, and very busy when we went last November – best to book as people waiting for seats most of time we were there.   They cook some items in centre of restaurant
    – and the Chinese near to it was good

    – and if open, as they close for family holidays around June – just past Patalavaca is Cuerva Pirata – lovely steaks and fish

    – Palm Garden above Patalavaca

and below Patalavaca at sea level
    – Valentino’s
    – Sagitarrius (had live music Sunday evenings)
    – Montesemar (one near Valentinos not one in apartment block near Anfi)

Do let us know what you visit and which you find good!!

I hope you have a good time –  I have a couple of ideas from members on our Facebook group about things to look for if you haven’t been for a few years and will put the ideas together and post on the forum

If you get a chance to post anything while you are at Anfi or a short article for the July Newsletter that would be great!

    Hi Robert

The Taj Palace at the marina is the cheaper one

You’ll find the old area of Puerto Rico shopping centre has been renovated as well

    Regards Brian

    #77887

Definitely worth a look around the Mall  –  from the restaurants in the Mall you get a good view of the fountains in the evening and some evening they have live entertainment – or did when we were there Oct/Nov (& Pam says some entertainment a few weeks ago when she was there)

The Taj Palace in the Mall is quite good as is the steak place next door to it – there is also a Taj Palace near Puerto Rico marina and Pam says that has same menu and cost about 1/3 less

There is also a cafe/bar right near the fountains which does great coffee and nice looking food  – and a nearby ice cream bar next to Hyperdino
In Mall shops are various chain shops – also Lefties good for clothes – and a kids games shop on the lower floor along with a homewares shop & more clothes shops

Opposite the mall and above the Spar are bars and café/restaurants that mainly open up in evening – you can park in the underground car park there and it was free last Oct – you just have to get ticket validated before you leave on the machine on underground floor – in fact we used to park there to get to Mall shops as easier to walk out and cross road compared to underground in the Mall  (depends which end of Mall you want)
Spar has good fresh food as has Hyperdino – Spar also has a wine room and a beer room – in beer room they were doing free samples if that’s of interest!! and they have a huge range of beers and wine  –  at end of Spar is  Spar health shop – probably needed after the beer and wine 🙂

Members have asked about seeing a list of enquiries made for their adverts – work is still ongoing with rentals development work, but one improvement ready now is a new link in your members “view” of the advert that lets you see enquiries made.      If you have adverts and it doesn’t matter if they are old adverts as long as they are there, nor whether expired or paused or live please look at your MyAdverts page – https://anfiukmembers.co.uk/my-adverts/

There is a new link – see screenshot below – click the link on your advert to see previous enquiries. You can also delete enquiries as well.     If you find any problems please email me – webmaster@anfiukmembers.co.uk

The Q&A document with information from the meeting is on this link    – please note on item 6) voucher expiry, the vouchers currently expire at end of Dec 2022 & whilst Anfi may extend them we feel it is safer to assume they will expire as any extension would not be decided until later this year

I only have brief notes from the meeting (see below) and if you recall anything that is missing please let me know

    • The agenda was revised as Richard was delayed by traffic and no content for the Gran section until after the meeting
    • A brief intro was made for members to committee members who were present on the call at beginning of the meeting
    • Voting papers and incorrect completion for Puerto elections – G McMahon suggested we put info on website (we have sent out before each election by email)
      a) we do email out before election though the content is always provided a few days upfront, and
      b) we risk that the process is changed by Anfi at next election
      c) it presupposes many will look at the webpage before filling in their form
Committee to consider options for additional info to members on completing election forms
a point was made about votes and number of weeks owned and variations between resorts
    • Tony mentioned the play areas at Beach and Monte being reworked and petanque being played near entrance to Tropicana
    • Christine and Pete Anderson mentioned Beach report and items arising
    • Geoff gave Puerto update and answered questions arising – see Q&A notes
    • After Richard joined he gave updates on Beach and Monte and a general update from Richard and Geoff on Lopesan and ownership
    • Brian to update the Q&A document issued to members with info from the meeting and email to those attending
    • Another meeting will be held after the June liaison committee meetings – aiming for July – date tbc
    • This reply was modified 3 years, 3 months ago by Brian Taylor. Reason: added info about voucher expiry

Cose Com Sei was a long time favourite of Pam & I  –  they closed during the pandemic and I think the family went back to Italy
Will have to give La Lanterna  a go – Pam is out in May and we both go out in October

    and more
    ———–

Workman had left by the time we got back from lunch at Maroa.

Looks as though channel now filled in

update from member 1st April  –
    ————————-
Am attaching a couple of photos of the work starting at Monte children’s pool this morning. With luck no more drilling!

Looks like a separating membrane being put down ready for laying the (tiled?) surface  finish.

They appear to have created a drainage channel around the pool. It will be interesting if this will have a grill or just run under the paving.

Will send latest update photo Monday before we leave.

    #75937

another update on Monte kids pool and photos –
“Couple of photos attached showing work on pool.
Cannot work out what is happening to surrounds, they are now cutting back another shallow trench, previous ones concreted in so could it be waterproof concrete.
Paving still to go on top.”

when we were out last Nov we went to a couple of Liam’s favourites which we like

    – Palm Garden  – long term favourite of ours

    – Valentino’s –  lovely food

    – Sagitario (above Patalvaca beach) –  on Sunday evenings the have a jazz player on from about 7.30pm  – be aware they do close fairly prompt around 10 ish

also we went for first time to  Restaurante Fernando – this is in Patalavaca just off the mini roundabout along the parade of shops and restaurants – location here.   Great food,  good service,  and very good value – we booked and from 7.30 to about 9.oo there were people waiting outside for a table to come free

and for Indian the Taj Palace in the newish Mogan Mall is good – need to book if you want outside seat and get to see the water fountain display in the evening – the Mall also had local musicians on the evening we went

    – Cabosuroeste –  used to be a favourite, but haven’t used after we got put on outside table near where the staff grouped to smoke  & indifferent service

Just to give you an idea of the questions we have had in and avoid repetition the 12 questions so far are

1 Current state of contracts in perpetuity

2 What is happening to the sales team- it would appear that they are not being brought back from furlough. Does this mean we will no longer have people traipsing through the site being given unrealistic expectations of what they can expect from Anfi management

3 Is it still true once you have signed the contract you can automatically leave if you do not pay the maintenance fee for two years, as ours only seem to say you MAY be able to leave only!

4 What are the ways of giving up an Anfi week other than private sale?

5 Richard Weston made a commend on Facebook regarding not to bye timeshare at Anfi for now. I’d like to have some more details on that – why not buy??

6 We want to use points from 2021 that could not be used before the end of 2022 due to pandemic restrictions or availability to be used in Feb 2023 but we have been told that is not allowed. Anfi had a concession in 2021 to allow unused 2020 points to be used in 2022. This is a post pandemic issue and there will be others in the same situation due to using up banked points. Can we expect another concession while this problem continues?

7 Updated on current internal legal situation with various Anfi owners

8 Is anything being done to ensure that all who own at del mar get their weeks, as the system now appears really skewed by Tauro owners who can get many more weeks for their points at del mar, leaving del mar owners unable to get their weeks, and not having adequate points to go to Tauro. Given the Covid voucher scheme, could there not be a week for a week arrangement to ease the log jam of weeks required

9 We signed our original contract 2008 yet the new contract states year signed up as 2020. We think the 50 years should be taken from that point – 2008 still. Our family are not able to use our 4 person apartment now as have 5 in their family now.

10 Are there any threat to spending my weeks in Anfi in view of the current bankruptcy of two of Anfi companies?

11 Internet at Anfi – still very slow and unstable – did they not pay enough for a good speed or is there a bigger problem??

12 The general maintenance of the Beach Club – still a lot to be done. Sealings in the bathroom and rust at the railings outside the Apartment’s. Why have they not done that under Corona lockdown?

I have sent out an email invation to all members – and please see copy below

    ===============

    6th March 2022

    Dear Member

We plan to hold a meeting at 6.30pm on Wednesday 23rd March by Zoom to update members on developments at Anfi since our last members meeting in November.
If you are interested in joining us please make a note in your diary and complete the brief reply form on the link below so that we can send you the Zoom details.     The form has a section for questions you may wish to raise upfront and we will also try to answer any questions raised during the meeting.

At our last meeting with members in November we discussed developments at Anfi, administration etc as an update to our OGM in October.  The November meeting followed the October liaison committee meetings (see forum post for brief notes of November meeting), and we agreed we would hold another meeting after the the February Anfi Club liaison meetings.

If you wish to join the meeting on the 23rd to hear the latest news please complete the short form on the link below – we will only send Zoom details to those who complete the form and indicate that they will, or may, attend the meeting.
The form is quick to complete and just asks for your email, name and whether you will be joining us, and any topics to cover  –   the link to the form is –   https://forms.gle/v5EyREGVNFNiJPqe9

All of your Committee will be at the meeting on the 23rd including the 3 who are elected representatives to the the Anfi Club liaison committees (Roger Byatt – Gran Anfi / Richard Weston Anfi Beach & Club Anfi Monte / Geoff Mathews – Puerto Anfi).

I will email details for the Zoom call a day or two before the meeting to those members who have indicated they intend, or may, join the meeting.

    Kind regards
    Brian Taylor

    Treasurer
    Anfi UK Members’ Club

    NB
1 If you can’t join us you can still ask questions via the reply form and we will try to answer and send some notes after the meeting.

2 For any members who missed the statements from the Administrator and from the Trustee which were sent by email from Anfi –  there are copies on the Club’s news pages and forum,  and the Club’s Facebook group plus of course in the members area of anfi.com   – the links are:-

I’ve put some notes about financial issues at Anfi  into the next Newsletter as another member asked about this recently and one of the committee did some notes.

We’ll also no doubt touch on this topics in the members meeting on the 23rd March.  I’ll be emailing the invitations out very soon.

    Kind regards,  Brian

Just a quick update on progress on membership fees – first though, I would be really grateful for feedback on any ideas for using some of the Club funds to improve services to members please email me – treasurer@anfiukmembers.co.uk or post in this forum.

All members subscription fees had been updated to the new rate by the end of last year – you can check your subscription in the subs area of your membership –  https://anfiukmembers.co.uk/my-club/my-details/ and then click on the “subscriptions” link to the left of the screen.

Members with 3 and 5 year subscriptions are being updated manually – members due to renew in March and April have already been updated.   There remain a considerable number to work through, though we will complete these before the renewal is due.  (We are adjusting the renewal date so that the months remaining from 1st Jan 2022 are priced at the new reduced rate, which extends the renewal date for the membership.)

I asked Richard if he had heard more about the children’s playground being resurfaced and opened up and Richard said that no change so far, and no work at the moment, and the liaison committee have chased and want completed before June.

Anfi have now issued the following statement on the anfi.com news:-

“Some of our members will have seen that the children’s playground has been closed for some time pending the complete renovation of this area.

Before any new playground equipment can be installed, the area is to be extended slightly, the ground needs levelling, and a small retaining wall will be built where the ground slopes away.  Then the new playground equipment will be installed, new soft impact flooring will be laid and a new fence put around the whole area.

Artificial grass will also be laid on the remaining surfaces, particularly around the children’s picnic area.

We will keep you informed of the progress.”

Just  a shame it’s taking so long, though sounds like will be good when finished.

    #75018

also you can see brief notes from the November meeting on this post

    #75017

I had overlooked posting some brief notes from the Nov meeting – please see below:-

Notes from members meeting by Zoom 29th November 2021

1 No current cause for concern regarding safety of our weeks

2 Best to pay maintenance fee for 2022 and if not paid for 2021

3 Expect more from administrator in months not weeks – the next liaison committee meetings are in Feb and hope for update around that time

4 Some members looking to get out of maintenance liability and one option is just to hand back to Anfi

5 Members who bought direct are under pressure to sign new contracts and the latest Anfi tactic is to ask for new contract before actioning voucher (see note at end)  – we don’t know if Anfi will start to approach resale buyers to sign new contracts, though the members on the Zoom call with resale weeks have not been approached.

6 Members are not responsible for Anfi’s debts

7 Elected representatives will continue to engage with Anfi regarding administration

8 That the maintenance fees have been held down compared to the last year the clubs were fully operational, to the benefit of all. The reduction in 2020 compared to 2019 was 10%, in 2021 it is 7%.

9 We expect 2022 to be back to around 2019 levels.

10 All points (and weeks) expiring at the end of 2021 are extended a year – see details with 2022 maintenance invoices

11 Anfi Sales inventory is available to book in order to increase effective capacity.

12 Members with fixed weeks who could not bank them, and those who had booked with floating weeks or points but then were ‘no shows’ at the clubs can obtain 60% reduction in the maintenance fee bill (We recommend this over any voucher offer).  See details with 2022 invoices

13 The Administrator has currently confirmed existing management in post. There seems to be little effect on daily operations. To preserve their rights, members should pay their bills. This process is likely to take some time.

NB Anfi have been telling some members that any compensation entitlement that they are due for missing weeks will not be honoured until they sign the updated contract.
