the other one from this week is using the wooden boxes, various shapes

Maria has loads of napkins where you can pull off the top layer to use as your design

This week only Pam & I at the craft session, such a shame not better take up – next Thursday is glass painting, using glasses rather than plates, so you get your personalised mug or beer glass

Last two efforts from Pam I are – mugs, though tried bubbles theme and maybe could have chosen something else.  The lady next to us did palm trees and really amazing detailed drawing, wish I could do that

    Hi Wolfgang

    Sounds useful

Is the anonymous aspect for enquirers, or is it anonymous to Anfi – i.e. do Anfi use this system to collect data on advertisers and enquiries?
Seems coincidental that at the meeting at Maroa meeting this week the Anfi Sales rep was talking about Anfi Sales wanting to take a bigger role in handling resales and availability of Anfi weeks –  which would be good if pricing was fair and equitable.

Anfi UK currently charge for rentals as you know, though do have an 80% + success rate on rentals  – if all rentals can be consolidated and fairly priced that has to be in the interests of members provided data confidentiality is maintained.
It has taken quite a bit of effort to provide a system that allows enquirers to easily search for weeks they want, rather than plough through the Facebook style posts where can be quite hard to find anything. So if Anfi can replicate that, or what you do on your timeshare rental/sales site, then that has to help members wanting to rent or sell.

Meeting was very useful. Turnout from UK and German members quite low, with lots of Norwegian owners there.

Interesting info from the committee reps and an Anfi rep, and chance to ask questions

Hopefully our members will turn out in greater numbers for future events.

Maroa do the happy hour but bring cash as separate bar for meeting.  There is also free raffle which Linda, of John & Linda,  organises with prizes for Maroa sunbeds – actually won which is very rare in raffle for Pam & I !!

Back again this evening.  Saw Victoria and Abdul

Since clocks changed the first showing is at about 6.30 – so back at Anfi before 9.30  –   they do a follow on show of different film

Food good and current offer is 2 x pizzas, 2 deserts + free wine for 28 euros. Maybe best if you get bus or taxi –  the bus station is just opposite the cinema
As you leave you get voucher for free cocktail on next visit

Link to cinema –   Moonlight cinema

Mini golf area seems to be used a lot for people just walking round.   Nice to sit down in a quiet area if that’s what you are looking for.
The fish seem to be surviving remarkably well, though the water area near the entrance is now turned off.  No frogs or lizards to be seen.

There are people playing mini-golf – look on Facebook to see who is the current week “holder” of the clubs

The craft sessions are still running at Monte cafe area 11.00 a.m. Thursdays. Anfi has it on their website though it is poorly advertised onsite – look near lift lobbies in Puerto / Monte

The lift adverts only have October sessions. This week is decoupage on wooden boxes using napkin layers, you can get really good results, even me!  My granddaughter adopted one of Pam’s last years efforts, “I like this, can I keep it for my treasures” .

Changes topic each week over 4 or 5 weeks

If your other half doesn’t like crafts, park them at the Monte bar!

Sessions are run by Maria http://www.aniarte.es who also runs separate sessions as a business.

Slightly disappointed with our meal. Food not up to previous standards. Pam had her favourite shoulder of lamb, though was quite salty and not as good as previous times. I had a fish dish which looked as though it had been reheated, and not that tasty.

It is still a lovely restaurant and hopefully the shortfalls were a one off

Just to update on Roger’s info for the meeting this Wednesday.

In June there was an international meeting for UK Germans and other nationalities. It was well received hence the reason for arranging another meeting this Wednesday 1st November.
Everyone is invited if you are in Anfi.  At Maroa 16.45 for a 17.00 start for approximately 1 hour. Happy hour starting early as Roger has said above.
The meeting is in English.   Committee members presenting the meeting are:
    – Aase Simonsen Norway
    – Richard Weston UK
    – Peter Siegler Germany
    – Jens Schmidt Denmark
    – John Meykel Benelux
It is hoped a member of management will also be present.

I’m at Anfi too. There seems to be to be a mix of people, certainly some new. Though with people who have bought at Emerald and exchange to Anfi Del Mar there will be those who are not familiar.
People I’ve met over last few days have clearly been at Anfi for many years.    Though perhaps others have booked through other means.

Closing this topic as Fusion is now a new restaurant in Playa Del Ingles and Heidi’s has taken it place in Arguineguin

Booked in for Friday as belated birthday meal out for Pam. It is her favourite restaurant!

    #17012

Looked last night and seemed very empty around 9 ish. Also at lunchtime today, very few tables taken

    Anyone used it recently?

    #17009

Went for breakfast Tuesday morning, bit late just after 10. Enjoyed the food though not the hottest I’ve had.    Get the feeling the counter is not refreshed that much as the morning moves on.
Coffee could have been hotter and was a bit weak.  Scrambled eggs had been in hot tray a bit too long.
And they have reduced the selection of cut up fruits, though have a range of whole fruit out.
Little things too, like no towel out to hold the bread whilst cutting it.  Bread itself very nice and fresh.

Might try the Peurto Vista breakfast later this week.

Has anyone used the Gran Bahia recently since it relaunched, looked around yesterday late morning but couldn’t see any menu out, perhaps it livens up later in the day?

    #17005

Pam and I ventured in to eat at La Posada on Monday evening – most of the tables were taken when we arrived just before 9
We don’t normally use the onsite restaurants but had just arrived and needed to eat nearby!  Service was quite prompt initially, and then a few gaps later on
Food OK, not great but edible. Pam’s better than mine.
I had tomato soup to start with as the featured courgette soup was not available.  It was possibly from a tin and a bit lump but tasted OK.
Followed by sole with chilli and garlic – hadn’t quite expected this to be literally chopped up garlic and chilli.  Fish was good.  Vegetables quite oily
Pam had pork chop and salad which was good

Not sure I’d rush back, or if I did go maybe pork or red meat would be better choice. It does seem busy though, looked today at about 2pm and most tables taken.

Update on our flight via Madrid – all went well, bit of a long day but having departed Gatwick just after 10.00 a.m.  we did land in Gran Canaria before 6.30pm and checked into Anfi by 8 pm

    Couple of points:-

    – at Madrid going from non Schengen to Schengen – we went via the transfer route at Madrid and to passport control that had 3 desks open and only myself & Pam, and one other group, so we went straight to a desk and through in a minute

    – hadn’t done my homework on Madrid layout, we were arriving and departing same terminal “2”, though terminals 1 to 3 are all linked together. We were looking for a lounge in Schengen area, and wandered aimlessly for a while, then gave up and got lunch at one of the outlets. Signposting not great. They are redeveloping parts of the airport, so lots of boarded up areas.
If doing again, go near D62 gate for one of lounges and some reasonable looking eating places nearby.   And Norwegian flew out from nearby gate D66, though didn’t know that until much nearer departure time.
(Walking from one end to other of terminals 1 – 3 is at least 20 – 25 minutes)

    – departure from Madrid bit of bun fight, but got away on time.

    – arriving at Gran Canaria great, as on Schengen flight so no passport checks, and at luggage area very quickly.
Relieved to see luggage arrive as seems reliant on extra little label at Gatwick, that tells them it is a transfer at Madrid!!

Overall the time in the air was about 5 1/2 hours for the 2 flights, and adding in changeover etc added about 4 hours to what would have been a direct flight travel time.       Norwegian Air has direct flight from Gatwick that lands after 11pm so very late arrival.
I see Easy-jet do direct flight that lands about 7.30 so maybe do that another time

It worked for us as got to room, down to a restaurant, and had a relatively early night, ready for the rest of the holiday.

The link to Julie’s post on “Options for getting out of your Anfi contract if you no longer want it or if you die” is on this link

And the direct link to the article in pdf form referred to in the post about options is on this link

This is not an article about claims, it is about options to get out of your Anfi contract should your circumstances change, and information for your relatives should you pass away or not be able to decide yourself.

Pam & I have been a few times in last few years, mainly for the fish. Always good.   Just watch they do seem to close earlier than many restaurants, maybe before 10

found the site where you can register for alerts on low cost routes when flights schedules become available. I used this 2 or 3 years ago to get in on Easyjet flights early to GC – but you really have to be quick as at that time Easyjet announced at midnight and prices were going up by 6a.m. and 50% up by 9a.m. – there is option to get text alert which could be worthwhile
Be interested if anyone uses and finds useful

    http://www.lowcostroutes.com/en/flights_alert?airline=14

the home page also lets you search for currently available low cost flights, rather like skyscanner.

Link has a bit more info, though I still haven’t found the site where you can register for updates when releases occur

    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/flight-ticket-release-dates

    #16588

    Hi Liam

Each airline has a release schedule which it publishes, at least to some extent.  I’ve seen this with Norwegian before, when they run late over the 10 months – though then they publish well ahead once released, summer one will run up to end October (always a problem for me going out October and back November!!)

There is a site somewhere that lets you register for airline releases.  I did that for easyjet a year or two back, and you get email.
With easyjet the prices rose quickly in the first few hours after release

Hope you get a good deal

    Regards, Brian
