El Cafe now has a new look with a covered area around the seating.

Sadly the evening music has gone with Bob Gorman etc

The waiters seem to hover around the menu board outside to encourage you to go in – haven’t used it so be interested to know if anyone has?

Pretty much the same when Pam and I walked by a few days ago – still the Maroa breakfasts are good and we’ve been twice so far

    Hi Moira

I can help if you let me know what items you are having trouble finding – the Forum structure is pretty much the same as the old website. It is worth looking at the short video on the My Club page for an overview of the new website

And the item posted above explains the best way to see latest posts https://anfiukmembers.co.uk/forums/topic/website/#post-7208
The Latest Forum Activity tab is the easiest way to see recent Forum posts, or to scroll back through previous ones. Also the index to the right side of this page shows recent activity on posts and Forum Topics

And the My Club menu has most of the member information

    Kind regards, Brian

There has been a lot written about claims in the Forum and Anfi are certainly appealing and doing all they can to drag things out.
And as Sean says there are cost which you need to balance against the potential benefit / likelihood of success or failure / timescale etc. Not helped by the fact the different courts involved are taking different decisions on some issues

The two links below take you to section in the long claims posts which help to summarise process and you can also read other comments from people in the process of claiming – if you read over the last two months or so posts, you’ll get a flavour of the views, top help you reach your decision

The raffle at the 2017 AGM raised £25 for Breast Cancer Care as well as a prize for the winner – thanks to everyone who contributed

Anfi had advised owners that one of the Monte pools is being refurbished this year from April to June – see link –  https://anfiukmembers.co.uk/forums/topic/monte-pool-refurbishment-24th-april-23rd-june-2017/

Neils – did you have direct information from Anfi about the beach Club work ?

At the Anfi UK AGM last Saturday Julie Jordan advised that although bank online records go back 7 years, if you call your bank you can often get records going back much further. Some banks may charge for this.

Also in the morning before the AGM, JLCA gave an interesting update on the legal claims, status, timescales etc. and answered questions from all the members present. JLCA sent over 3 of their key people to present the update and answer questions, and the session was very well attended.

If you are thinking of making a claim please read the previous posts from Julie which set out the deal for members agreed with JLCA – and how that compares to other claims company deals.  If you are considering a claim you can discuss with an English speaking JLCA lawyer before finalising your decision.
(Please also look at what you have in terms of contract documents from Anfi.)

    Kind regards, Brian

Thanks to everyone who attended the AGM – it was a brilliant weekend and great to see so many members.  Very interesting to hear the legal update. And thanks to everyone for the questions during the AGM and support for the AGM.

Mark’s quiz at the Gala dinner provoked much thought and many laughs – “crocheting” will never seem the same again !!!   But thanks to Pam our table won the decider on “Scotch Bonnet”

See you at the next one!

    Kind regards, Brian & Pam

NB – sorry the slides on the website did not show the full screen as intended – I’ll send round an edited version so you can see slides “as intended”

The last few papers for the AGM are now on the meeting page – https://anfiukmembers.co.uk/meeting/agm-2017/

Please remember to print or save these if you are attending the AGM and need to refer to them

I’d understood that Anfi do not charge for direct relatives like sons / daughters or father / mother  – though they may/do charge for brother letting to sister etc

Other members may be able to confirm but would suggest you do query this with Anfi on the charge for your daughter

In my own case my sons have not been charged for guest certificate, but my wife was charged for her brother getting a guest certificate

This year I paid maintenance using Post Office credit card – they now have an online system that you can set to say you are in another country, and just takes a few minutes – so I set that to Spain for a day and paid the Anfi fees – went through with no query from the PO, whereas I’ve had trouble paying out of country with PO before. And have also had queries with Barclaycard on Anfi fees.

The PO country setting also worked well when Pam and I were at Anfi in November and all the card transactions where fine

It also worked well with some payments in Iceland I made recently

Beware that if you don’t tell the PO you are abroad, or are paying via a foreign country, then my experience is that payments are either blocked or held

I’ve used Top Car Autoreisen for over 10 years and, like Mike, have always found them good.  They were also recommended in a Which review about a year ago.

Last year I did pay 60 Euros extra  to get the “all in” insurance, and that was for over 3 weeks, but cover tyres, keys, undercar damage etc.

    Hi Niels

The majority of feedback I’ve had has been positive. Could you either email me ( webmaster@anfiukmembers.co.uk ) or post on here what aspects of navigation and order you’d like to see improvements on and I’ll look into – or what is it you are finding difficult to access.  There are some different ways of searching and accessing information on the new website.

In moving to the new site, we moved to a system used on tens of thousands of websites worldwide using WordPress and a standard Forum module – the old website used a quite sophisticated forum, but technical support was limited especially in the UK,  and expensive, and there was no upgrade path without rewriting the whole system.

    Thanks,
    Brian

Stephen – as Em has mentioned the search facility is worth looking at – as you can just tick the weeks of interest and that just brings up the ones that match what you are interested in.  The search button is top left on the rentals page.   Please let me know if that gives you a quick way to find the information you want ?

I’m also following up an idea from another member that may let us provide a summary view of rentals, in a table format.

Has anyone else been to this since it opened in August ?

    #6486

Pam and I went in October ( once the rainy days had subsided !! ) and it was a very good evening.

We drove from Anfi and parked in the nearby car park. We looked at nearby restaurants and would have tried one if had more time. The pizzas at the cinema were very good, fresh, and far too much too eat all of it!!!
And the service was really good, you just press button by your seat and waitress magically appears. Wine and beer are pub type prices.
For those without car, or wanting more drink,  Mark’s idea of bus out / taxi back is a great idea.

The film was about 20 minutes late starting but they seem to time that after sunset settles.

There are also all the shops in the shopping centre underneath the cinema.

We didn’t make it to 1am and were back at Anfi by 11 !

Book online via email to ensure your seat – they show programme up to a week ahead

    Neil

Can you remind me ref advert format and what info public see – is the member email and telephone number only shown if the member puts the email and phone number in the text of the ad

I think at present if a person sends an enquiry, then the auto confirmation does send the members emails – example copied below

    —————

This email confirms your enquiry: please do not reply to it, as the above email address is unmonitored.

Please check the details below to ensure that you have supplied the correct contact details:

    Email
    brian.r.taylor@centrica.com
    Message
test to see format – this is enquiry form
The owner of the Advert will reply to you in due course, or can be contacted at briantaylor098@gmail.com

    Thank you.

Neil is right – I put in my Gran Anfi points, then rented it and changed it to Monte or beach fixed week

If they don’t know an apartment number, then leave it blank and put a comment in the text

    David

    #1201

Out of interest – does “contact the owner” reveal email or phone number ? or only show if the member has put that info in the text of the ad ?

    #1200

Have just posted 2 test ads – like the process

what is happening though with Visual – as if I press Visual get nothing – actually the same on this post too
whereas earlier today Visual brought up the other tab ?
    So I can’t upload images

Also in the fixed week option – it will not let you put tbc on apartment number box – as asks for a number. But you may have fixed the week, but the apartment number is confirmed on arrival
You might want to say high level or ground , which can be in description but looks odd to leave apartment number blank

1 How do I get to the section to add stories ? When I go to Member Stories it is blank and I do not have option to add stories ?

2 When we are transferring Forum posts, do we have the same option to strip out formatting, as I can’t see that on doing this post ?
