    Message from Roger Byatt
“I am at Anfi for a Gran Anfi committee meeting until 2 July and can be contacted via Gran Anfi reception or by calling room 314 (40-314 via internal phone) if any member wants to make contact or raise any issues.”

    Hi Jude
Thanks for the update – I had heard from Richard Weston that sales were operating but only selling to existing owners – perhaps that has stopped
Be interesting if anyone tries using booking.com to see what happens – if the normal cancellation rules apply one could book and then cancel !

    Kind regards,  Brian

and from Christine “Went to Puerto Mogán by bus this week €3.50 return, what a bargain. Lovely and quiet. Recommend the Spar, great choice of fresh fish and meat, so much cheaper than our local spar.”

from Geoff – “Anfi shopping centre this morning. I counted 11 shops open and 6 closed (vacant) also Anfi Plaza tonight with Bonita Mini Disco and Market Stalls. It’s hoped to start Plaza shows again in July when numbers pick up again……….”

    plaza mini disco & stalls

Geoff has done a quick check round the shops in the shopping centre and found 11 open 6 closed so the closed ones appear mainly the inside corridor area – perhaps better than it looks at first sight

    Hello Dag Finn
if the website menu is still not visible could you let me know please (and any other members too please)
2 members who had the “missing menu” problem can now see it – another can’t and I have asked a 4th to check, so any extra feedback most useful

I have set up a different method of showing the menu on our “test” website so can share that with anyone affected to see of it sorts the menu display & if so can try on our “live” website

    Kind regards,   Brian

Robert’s post has reminded me that Pam & I went last November and really enjoyed our meal –  very good value, good food, and very busy – best to book as people waiting for seats most of time we were there.   They cook some items in centre of restaurant

    Also nearby alternatives include –
    – the Chinese near to it which was good

    – and if open, as they close for family holidays around June – just past Patalavaca toward Arguineguin is Cuerva Pirata – lovely steaks and fish

    – Palm Garden above Patalavaca – always very good food

and this site gives examples of calculation and links to EU online calculator and more details on the rules  –  https://cibtvisas.co.uk/The-Schengen-Areas-90/180-Day-Rule-Made-Easy – see text below

A Moving Target: How to Calculate the 180 Days
Calculating the 90 days is fairly straightforward, but where the most confusion arises is the rolling 180-day period. It’s often easiest to think of this 180-days as a moving block of time that is counted backwards from each day of staying in the Schengen Area. Another example may help illustrate this concept:

If a traveller entered Austria on 1 November 2021, the 180-day “block” of time would be calculated backwards from that date (back to 6 May 2021) and then any additional days of stay within the Schengen Area. Each day they stay in the Schengen Area will advance the 180-day timeframe – so the calculation on 2 November 2021 would advance the 180-day block by one day to 7 May 2021.

Still confused? Luckily, the European Commission has an online Short-Stay Calculator that allows users to either assess previous and/or ongoing compliance with the 90/180 rule or to check the maximum length of stay that will be allowed on a particular day in the future. The calculator is free to use and available here.

the UK government website gives info on the 90 day in 180 restriction – https://www.gov.uk/visit-eu-switzerland-norway-iceland-liechtenstein

the para I’ve copied below is about half way down the webpage

    ———————–
Visas for short trips: you do not need one if you’re a tourist
If you’re a tourist, you do not need a visa for short trips to EU countries, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein. You can stay for up to 90 days in any 180-day period.

If you visit more than one of these countries within a 180-day period, check that you do not spend more than 90 days in total across all the countries you visit. That’s because most of these countries apply the 90-day limit as a group.

There are different rules for Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus and Romania. They each have their own separate 90-day limits. The time you spend in other countries does not affect how long you can spend in each of these countries without a visa.

You may need a visa or permit to stay for longer, or to study, work or travel for business. Check the travel advice for each country you’re visiting for more information.

You can travel to and work in Ireland in the same way as before 1 January 2021.

You’re right Robert there are new limits to how long in any 180 days you can stay in the EU –  if you are stamped (or scanned) into a country and not out then they don’t see that you’ve left –  if this takes you over the limit then when you next go into an EU country this will either be picked up when you arrive or when you try to exit.   There are potentially significant penalties for overstaying.
There are some posts or Facebook items on this  and I’ll try to find them.
The BBC do have a summary page about this  as the way it is calculated is not quite what you might expect.

The people who may be over the limit could for example  be those who stay for a 6+ weeks before Xmas and then go again after Xmas  for another 6+ weeks

thanks Robert – do let us know if you try one of the new restaurants in the Mogan Mall (or anywhere else!)
The Taj Palace (Indian) I’d mentioned and the nearby steak place were certainly not thrusting menus in my face when I was there last November

I could really do with some items to go into July newsletter – even if just a sentence or two that might be useful to others – and if you’ve been at Anfi recently a short update for other members would be great too (I can pull some info off this group as well) – and some photos would be great for Court to put into the Newsletter – please can you help?
(if you have any problem posting photos into the forum please just email to news@anfiukmembers.co.uk)

    many thanks
    Brian

    Hi Jude
Yes I did notice that booking.com were offering weeks – over the years Anfi weeks have been seen on booking.com though often when you click through there is no availability and just options for somewhere else  (& excepting some of the Tauro area that is outside of Anfi’s resort management)

On the latest offering it does look as though there is availability on booking.com  –  what we don’t know yet is whether that is being offered by Anfi or someone else (though you have to think through how guest cert and cancellations etc would work if not Anfi)
It could be surplus Anfi Sales weeks that are being offered especially as Sales are said to be restricted on not selling to “new” clients

I saw some availability in June and July when I looked a few weeks back – be interesting to see of the weeks from late Oct are offered as clearly sought after.

Also did you see the price being asked – quite high!

Let us know if you see more on availability – or perhaps other members have booked!!

    Kind regards,  Brian

The draft Minutes from the last OGM are on the 2021 meetings page  –  apologies for the delay.

The revised constitution is on the webpage for the Club’s constitution.

The next OGM will be in 2023.

(For newer members, the Club operates under a constitution, committee members are elected on rotation at each OGM, and the Club published its accounts and reports on its activities – we do have gaps on the committee so please do ask if you might be able to help in any capacity.)

Hi Robert – no problem & I’ve moved it to a new topic as others may have a similar query

Hope you have a great time at Anfi

    Regards Brian

    Hi Robert

My wife Pam was out in May and did not fill in locator form – Pam says the Covid certificates were only spot checked and when she went through at Las Palmas airport & only for a few people  –  there have been a few posts about this on our FB group too in similar vein.

If you look on the Canaries government tourist site – https://www.hellocanaryislands.com/a-safe-destination/travelling-to-the-canary-islands/  –  and scroll down to the bit about travelling from third countries and non EU citizen –  it says you need either a valid digital certificate or to fill in control form
    I’ve copied text below

For Covid cert best to have printed out as well as digital copy – if checked they seem to prefer paper copy as quicker to check

    =========================

    1. 2. IF YOU ARE TRAVELLING FROM THIRD COUNTRIES AND YOU ARE NOT EU CITIZEN

Passengers must meet the following requirements:

Control form or Certificate EU-COVID. You can check here the validity of your EU digital certificate. We recommend completing the form digitally, including all of the necessary documents in order to speed up airport checks (fast control). If you are travelling on a cruise ship, this is the form you need to complete.

Certificate of full vaccination against COVID-19. Accompanying persons under the age of 12 are exempt. Residents of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland travelling directly from their country must arrive in Spain with a vaccination certificate or a Certificate of recovery.

Passengers aged 12 years or older and under 18 years can submit a negative PCR test, performed 72hours  prior to departure , if they are not properly vaccinated.

In addition, a Diagnostic Test of Active COVID-19 Infection will be required regardless of vaccination status or prior infection, for third countries at high risk only. Antigen tests taken a maximum of 24 hours  prior to departure for Spain and NAAT tests (PCR, TMA, LAMP) taken a maximum of 72 hours  prior to departure for Spain will be accepted.
