Hi Bev
Regarding points balance, I’ve had the same thing with “0” showing online. We’d tried by email with Vacation Club to get points balance a week or two ago and were told it couldn’t be provided as “you are in process to update your membership, for this reason the points balance are not available”.
When we called Verifications department a few days ago about our new contract, they explained that when a “new” contract is issued, the existing contract is put “on hold” on their system which means the points balance does not show – this will remain the case until either the new contract is signed or you reject the new contract & your old contract is re-instated.
However the Verifications Department were able to access our records and tell us our points balance over the phone. So if you call Verifications that data is available.
On your last points about stats on contracts signed, I’ve not seen any information on that – perhaps Roger or Richard have information via the liaison committees, though the contracts are an Anfi Sales issue, rather than Anfi Resorts, so the information may not be available in any formal way. I might be wrong!
Kind regards, Brian
19/07/2020 at 7:04 pm #57872Hi Roger,
Be good if we can get some idea of capacity limits for pools and other common areas. Anfi’s letter refers to limits but does not say what they are
Regards, Brian
19/07/2020 at 6:45 pm #57868As Anfi have announced their opening arrangements, government advice to travel has been published, quarantine removed, and airlines have published flight schedules, this section about “when will the Canary islands reopen for tourists?” has served its purpose – we are closing this section, and have set up a new section about the “new normal” to cover the ongoing arrangements for travel and visiting Anfi.
Thank you for your queries and information. The new section “new normal” is still within the Coronavirus section of the Forum – quick link here.
The new section will also cover the changes since 19th July with reintroduction of restrictions, reduced flights etc.
19/07/2020 at 6:32 pm #57867Anfi have published two letters about the arrangements they will adopt once open from the 31st July. The notices are available in the members section of the anfi.com website and are copied below (please check anfi.com if you are reading this post in months to come, in case the detail has been updated)
Copies of Anfi’s letter of:
– 6th July
– 10th July (has more detail about onsite arrangements)
I hope Anfi will give more information about the capacity limits for various areas, the letters refer to limits but do not say what they are.

14/07/2020 at 10:57 am #57742Just to add the guidance Anfi have published is quite detailed and covers many points about reception, apartments, cleaning, pools.
14/07/2020 at 10:53 am #57741Hi Bob
We’ve sent out and published some info that will hopefully help to answer your questions. Anfi have announced they are opening from 31st July – I sent an email to members last week and have copied that into the News section of website, on this link https://anfiukmembers.co.uk/member-email-about-anfi-re-opening-travel-news-and-compensation-scheme/
And Roger posted an update in the Forum in the section about travel – https://anfiukmembers.co.uk/forums/topic/when-will-the-canary-islands-reopen-for-tourists/#post-57686
On Anfi’s own site they have recently published more guidance about how they will operate – I’ll copy that info onto our site shortly.
Kind regards, Brian
09/07/2020 at 5:26 pm #57661Hi Josh [I have now moved your question into the existing Forum topic]
It comes up regularly from claims companies trying to get you to claim from Anfi before its too late. We have a thread open on this topic so I’ll move your query over to it – https://anfiukmembers.co.uk/forums/topic/anfi-in-administration/
You’ll see the first post is from David Adams who had a call very much like you had, back in May.David Ledger replied in the existing topic – https://anfiukmembers.co.uk/forums/topic/anfi-in-administration/#post-56377
& following that there is a post from Richard Weston and Roger Byatt. Richard and Roger are on the liaison committees and close to what is going on, current rumours etc.If lot’s of members (not just Anfi UK, but generally, claimed from Anfi then the court costs would mount up).
Have a read and let us know what you think.Hope that helps
Regards, Brian

09/07/2020 at 10:40 am #57654We have sent an email to all members covering the re-opening of Anfi, travel and the compensation scheme. You can see a copy on the News page of the website

08/07/2020 at 4:44 pm #57638Thanks for raising it with Anfi management. I realised I hadn’t made it clear that in my case the lost week is nothing to do with the new contracts.
My “lost week” is a Beach Club resale May fixed week, and we told customer services in Feb that we didn’t want to update this contract & Anfi have not sent anything in relation to our fixed Beach weeks.
The contract update is for my Gran Anfi points which we bought direct back in 2002 ish – and alongside this our contract for a resale Monte floating week, which Anfi will bring into AVC weeks as a “benefit” for signing updated contract for Gran Anfi contract.
It seems odd Anfi have queried the updated contract when it is not for the Beach week that we want the voucher for.

06/07/2020 at 3:30 pm #57603Hi Roger
Pam & I have a new contract Anfi sent us and haven’t sent it back yet.
When we recently requested voucher for our lost week, Anfi have now replied saying that Anfi are still awaiting the return of our documents, “to activate this and the voucher” – it isn’t being put as a “suggestion” but a simple statement we need to return documents to get voucher!
And Anfi stated if we have sent they will check if received. So I think Stuart was correct, it is being used as blackmail. Despite what Anfi have said to the liaison committees, they are not doing what they said they’d do.

30/06/2020 at 6:30 pm #57508I read on the Martin Lewis website that some people have waited 13 weeks for passport renewals. Let’s hope it all speeds up soon. The fastrack and face to face options are currently suspended, so no current way to avoid applying online and waiting.
If any members have recently renewed be good to know how long it took!

29/06/2020 at 4:24 pm #57490Hi
I’ve just checked again and as Josh said the Anfi website is up and running. However the points balance error is still there, at least for me.

29/06/2020 at 3:50 pm #57487Hi Vee
I’m having same problem with the Anfi website, I’m either getting an error straight away or get to the captcha check for members area and then get an error.
It was OK earlier last week as I’d checked for news items a few times before Anfi announced re-opening date (other than the points balance has not been showing properly for at least a month, mine just comes up with “0” instead of showing a line for each year)Regards, Brian
27/06/2020 at 12:31 pm #57439Hi Roger
Is there any development with Anfi on points expiring this year? – the Anfi announcement about opening and compensation did not mention points.
I think there are real issues around availability both for this year and potentially for 2021 and 2022 – depending, in part, how apartments for the voucher scheme are resourced. Many points owners may not be able to get availability for this year, but also the demand for 2021 could be considerable as you have all the points that can already be carried from 2020 to 21 & many more than normal may be carried over.
It would definitely seem fairest if validity of points expiring in 2020 can be extended – though what happens if people can’t get availability in 2021 i.e. if demand exceeds weeks available? Perhaps a longer extension until this all works through is better overall.

25/06/2020 at 4:17 pm #57396Hi Roger
With Anfi announcing the voucher / refund today, are you able to comment more about Anfi and new contracts – the Anfi announcement makes no mention of the voucher being linked to having to sign a new contract
Regards, Brian
25/06/2020 at 1:38 pm #57387thanks Julie – I’ve copied the Anfi letter on another forum post – link here
I was interested to see there was nothing in the announcement about people with floating weeks or points who may not be able to book weeks in 2020 or 2021 if availability is much reduced because of the re-booking of the “lost” weeks. The impact will depend upon how many members take the % refund rather than the voucher.

25/06/2020 at 1:33 pm #57386Anfi have published their official announcement on their website in the members area under “news” – you can read a copy of their letter on this link (but please check Anfi’s website for any updates in the coming weeks)
- Anfi are opening from 31st July (week 31)
- there is a compensation scheme for members who should have been on holiday weeks 11 to 30 and have confirmed reservation
– those affected may choose either through AVC week(s) at your holiday Club to be taken by end of December 2022, or to have a credit (% not specified) on your 2021 maintenance fee invoice - Anfi will directly contact those members affected.
Anfi state that members who have been in contact with Customer Services or AVC in recent months and have a voucher or confirmed alternative date need not contact Anfi again.
Interestingly there is no information on how Anfi will deal with points and floating week members who may not be able to use their points/weeks in 2020 or 2021 if availability is limited due to the 11,000 or so weeks affected by the lockdown
Nor anything on what facilities will be open at Anfi, or restrictions on usage

21/06/2020 at 7:36 pm #57281Many of us will have heard the good news yesterday when Spain announced tourists will be able to visit from today, Sunday 21st June, without having to self-isolate. This follows some confusion last week when a Spanish minister suggested Spain would impose a 2 week quarantine on British travellers if the UK kept its 2 week rule.
Spain is re-opening its borders to all EU countries from 21st June. The BBC have reported on this.
Key points from the news:-– The current UK rules remain so anyone returning to the UK still has to self-isolate for 14 days. And the Foreign office is still warning against all but essential travel.
– The UK government is planning to relax quarantine rules for travel from some countries in early July. Hoping for announcement on 29th June!– On arrival in Spain visitors will go through a triple check including registering details and a temperature check.
– Spain is also identifying locations in each region where travellers will be isolated and treated should they require hospital treatment.
– And there are restrictions on capacity of bars and restaurants. Face masks are compulsory in public both inside and outside if a distance of 1.5m cannot be guaranteed. More detail in the CanarianWeekly about the “new normal”The Canarian Weekly also has an article published today with a very useful summary of the restrictions and info on flights.

19/06/2020 at 4:58 pm #57229Once we know Anfi are definitely opening up, that moves onto the travel position!
You may no doubt have seen the recent press news about UK overseas travel and it sounds as if work on a reciprocal travel corridors for some countries will be announced by the end of this month. The news I’ve seen also covers:- the UK position and quarantine, Spanish position on reciprocal quarantine, and, perhaps less often read, the Canary Island regional authority on its preference for test before tourists fly, and if not possibly on arrival.
I’ll pull together what I’ve read in next day or so from various UK and Spanish sources though by all means please let other members know any relevant travel information you have.
Bearing in mind that until UK FCO changes advice on not travelling, our travel insurance is not valid.
And if you planning to travel 1st January onwards, check you passport will have 6 months from date of travel and is less than 10 years old – see my recent post and link to the UK government website (you can register for email updates about travel to specific countries)

19/06/2020 at 4:48 pm #57228I saw a message from Anfi Customer Services to one of our members saying that Anfi are working to reopen by 1st week of August. Great news!!!
Nothing yet on Anfi’s own website or its members section, so hopefully Anfi will be letting us all know formally very soon. And separately Paul has just posted that Anfi Customer Services have advised him that Anfi will be contacting owners at the beginning of July about the “recovery programme” for lost weeks.

18/06/2020 at 7:49 pm #57203I’ve posted about passports for travel from 1st January, see link below, in case you hadn’t heard and it affects you – mine runs out in February so it does affect me!
From 1st January your passport needs to be valid for 6 months, currently it only needs to be valid for date you travel out/return.
This is likely to lead to a big uplift in passport renewals later this year, which is on top of the 1 million documents that are currently held up whilst the passport office is closed to all but essential work due to coronavirus. The post includes a link to the government website.https://anfiukmembers.co.uk/forums/topic/travel-and-passports-from-1st-january-2021/#post-57202
17/06/2020 at 3:09 pm #57188Hi Luigi
There seems to be no real announceable progress since Roger’s reply on the 26th May, though it is rumoured that Anfi will release some information about opening dates shortly.
I saw that H10 hotel at Meloneras is now taking bookings for 3rd July onwards.Since Rogers post, and mine on the 2nd June about travel news, there have been some recent announcement about travel to Spain (& restrictions) you might have seen, and I’ll pull a summary of what I’ve read into a separate post.
Regards, Brian
02/06/2020 at 12:44 pm #56899Whilst we await news on Anfi reopening, a few updates I’ve heard about travel in case you missed them:-
Yesterday, 1st June, the Spanish Tourism Minister, Maria Reyes Maroto, was quoted as saying that the UK must “improve” its record on COVID-19 before visitors are allowed back.
Britons would not participate in the trial due to take place before Spain reopens its borders on 1st July. In the trial tourists undergo a COVID-19 test at Spanish airports and have to remain isolated at their hotel for 6 hours until test results are available. Tourists from Germany and the Nordic countries are most likely to be permitted entry for the trial because their “epidemiological situations are very good”The UK government seems under more pressure to review the new 14 day quarantine rules for entry into the UK, and is also rumoured to be looking at the passage way idea for people entering the UK from countries with low infection rates – so we must hold out some hope as Gran Canaria has had low rates, though the islands may not view us quite so favourably until our rates drop down!
Channel 4 ran a program by Steph McGovern on 24th May about “how to go on holiday this summer” – the first half deals with UK holidays and the second on international travel. The travel consultant they interviewed speculated that check in times at airports, once they could reopen for tourism, would be extended to allow social distancing and perhaps need up to 4 hours check in. You can still see program on Channel 4 website for next 21 days – [on this link]
We must hope that the governments review of the social distance 2m rule, might reduce delays at airports if the safe distance can be reduced (WHO recommends 1m, some European countries 1.8m to 1.5m) Spain has a 2m limit like the UK – and latest rule is for face masks if 2m cannot be observed –
“The Spanish Health Ministry announced on Monday evening that the use of face masks in Spain will be obligatory in closed spaces and on the street where two-meter safe distances cannot be respected” –
see article in El Pais.If you hear any updates on travel to Gran Canaria please do post on this Forum

22/05/2020 at 11:44 am #56625Thank you to everyone who responded or emailed me – some very useful feedback on issues and concerns. I’ve closed the survey return – we had nearly 160 responses and almost 50/50 split with 50.6% preferring partial refund of 35-40% , and 49.4% prefer voucher.
Please note voucher option Anfi have offered to date is for 2021 and we’ll need to see what final options are after the liaison committees conclude there discussions.
22/05/2020 at 11:33 am #56624Whilst we can’t be there (yet!) the Canary News reported the opening of beaches, with restrictions, under the Phase 2 relaxations which I mentioned earlier in this topic – also that shopping centres are opening, again with restrictions.
Restaurants with 1/3 capacity and other restrictions. Cinemas and theatres with assigned seating and 1/3 capacity.Brian
